A well known SoCal luthier is stopping at my place on her way North.
I'm curious at what she will be bringing. |

On a completely separate note, looking at the list of the luthiers who will be exhibiting at La Conner, I was struck by how little overlap there is with the shows I’ve attended on the east coast (Artisan and Woodstock (while it lasted)) and, to a slightly lesser extent, the Fretboard Summit. Several luthiers whose names I’m very familiar with but haven’t seen their guitars in person (e.g., Michael Bashkin, etc.) and many more luthiers who I haven’t heard of. Perhaps I’ll make it out there one of these years.

Going to La Conner? I'd love too, but about twenty hours of flying each way is more that I can justify. So all of you people that are closer to it than me...please go, then post reports and pictures I can look at!
And would someone please buy Joe's purpleheart guitar while they are there. That guitar looks amazing! |

I guess that would be quite the trip. Maybe next year. Thanks for the mention! |

I finally got my pictures done.
This one will be there, if you don't see it, that probably means Bear is playing it (again)! Last edited by Marcus Bailie; 05-13-2024 at 06:40 PM. Reason: fixed picture, i think? |

I did a similar ride 40+ years ago. From Capital Hill over 90, north to hwy 9, then over to Bayview state park to camp out. Next morning south down Deception pass and Whidbey to ferry like you. I was crazy

And you survived our Whidbey maniacal driving on 20 and 525!

Yes although I found some smaller roads wherever I could to stay off of them!

A comic strip couldn't be funnier!! It sounds like none of the folks commenting about driving on Whidbey have never been out east driving around Boston or New York!!!

The demographics are either over 55 retirees (usually much older) who aren’t as sharp of drivers as they used to be or 20 something Navy hotheads. There’s isn’t much in between, lol.

Keep in mind I was talking about riding a bicycle. Wherever you ride a bicycle quiet side roads beat biking on the side of a rural highway.

And I would agree with you that downtown in any of the major cities on a bike is probably even less sane even though I have done that many times as well.
