Default Aurora

I'm in South Florida, so I can't see it, but does everyone else up north see the Aurora? Go outside and look up guys.

We had to drive about 30 mins to get better visibility on it out from the city (Eastside of Seattle) but the first shot was from my front door.IMG_20240511_001624677.jpgIMG_20240510_232155930.jpgIMG_20240510_231907693.jpgIMG_20240510_230042382.jpg

I'm seeing incredible shots this morning from people who live just far enough away from the city lights...

I couldn't get anything, just too darn bright here. Contemplating a drive out tonight, looks like maybe an encore?

In the Mid-Atlantic we were in 100% overcast and missed it.

It was nice to have more or better reason to be sleepless for that often getting up 3-4 AM to pee. We live in edge of the metro area and in a circle without streetlights so visibility was good.

Funny in my mind and common in my area is you see this often near Lake Superior, and Shaggy's skis often have northern lights themes in the graphics. It's been since last summer at our cabin when I last saw the phenomenon so my daughter's skis have been my reminder.

We could see it pretty well right on our street, about 2 miles from the house. One of the local TV weather guys said to make sure to take a pic of it even if it doesn’t look like much to the naked eye - said it would look much better in the camera. He was absolutely right: the pics do look a lot more colorful and vibrant. There were lots of great pics of local views from people in town.

Best viewing is dark skies between dusk and moonrise.

Unfortunately, I didn't see anything last night. I'm in Nova Scotia. Mostly clear skies. I checked at 10pm and again at 11pm - nothing but a quarter moon and stars, which in itself is beautiful.
