P.S. For those slope fans are their any "hidden gem" wood combos that sound great for the body size?
No affiliation, but there's an SCGC for a nice price in the classifieds.

Thanks -- Dale's sunbursts are truly exceptional. He's also a great guy. If you're looking in the range of Collings and Santa Cruz, you should definitely consider one of his guitars too.

I haven't played one, but these Kopp K35's seem to get a lot of praise on this forum.

I'm in the process of commissioning a custom short scale slope dread from Ken Miller.
http://www.kenmillerguitars.com/
He & his wife Virginia (who does all the inlay work) make wonderful, individually designed guitars, so there is no "standard" model but all are very light weight & loud from my experience of hearing folk play them at Kaufman Kamp.
Mine will be red spruce top, hog b/s with rosewood binding/saddle/headstock & ebony fingerboard. Rosette & headstock inlay undecided between mother of pearl or green snail.
Here's a picture of a previous slope they made, not my style but stunning anyway.

Martin actually builds some very fine 12 fret slope shoulder guitars. The limited edition CS D-18 12 is a custom shop D-18 limited to 75 pieces and built from adirondack spruce and sinker mahogany sourced from Belize. I've not played one but it looks to be a stellar 12 fret slope dread. And if I had the $ lying around I'd already have one!
