Walden G3000 is Sweeeet.
I gave it a quick flick of the truss rod, a few swipes with a nut file and it is perfect. The tone on this grand auditorium is out of this world as is the articulation of both bass and treble. Rings like it's EQ'd although I cannot seem to find any wiring in this guitar. It was a NOS 2004 model, so it was a bit subdued upon initial strum.. over the past week it has really begun to sing and the volume too has improved. I paid 1/3 the MSRP and half the street price for this Walden.
The fit and finish is nice and the nitro finish is a nice satin. Without a doubt a keeper. Last edited by PoorMansCollin; 07-01-2009 at 12:53 AM. |

Glad your happy with the Walden.
I have the inexpensive D552 12 string and can't believe the sound and playability, and for the price, well, it's in a league of its own. Walden's are the best kept secret IHMO. jack |

I agree. I had the Walden D550 prior and it too was a very nice guitar. |

I have the G1070 which I think is fantastic. It actually plays as good or better than my Larrivee. Sounds great too.

I found this G3000 Walden to be more articulate than the Taylor GC8. Especially the treble range.

I've been touting the excellent tone and build quality of Walden guitars for a while now, but it seems to fall on deaf ears around here.
It's okay though, because there would be some seriously 'freaked out" people here if they realized that a $700 Walden looks, plays and sounds just as good (or better) than their $3,000 custom build.

It really is a special guitar. The finish is clean. Guitars are like voices.. they run the gamut from Barry White to Rufus. There is no one "tone" so to speak. It's so subjective you know. Seagull doesn't sound like a Martin, but a Martin doesn't sound like a Seagull. Who's to say? I certainly agree with you, these guitars are very nice. I had a veteran play this guitar and to his ears it was vastly superior to his high end Taylors. |

Aother Walden fan here, build quality, sound and playability are as good as guitars costing a lot more. I bought my D550 as a beater but it's the guitar a pickup the most, it's opoened up to now. I cannot believe the sound of it. Congrats on your G3000.

-I've played the G570CE, the G570, the D550, and the D55CE quite extensively. The G series Waldens just knock my socks off! And all of these have laminated backs and sides. It must be something about that solid cedar top on the G that makes me keep coming back to it.

The G series are part of the supranatural series and they are either all solid wood or solid wood with laminate sides. The natural series have laminate sides with solid tops.

the 500 series has a solid top, laminate back & sides, black
binding, white purfling (body), chrome tuners & 3 ring rosette the 600 series is also solid top, laminate back & sides, white binding (headstock also), gold tuners & ab rosette the 700 series has solid top & solid back with laminate sides the 1000 series is solid top & back, laminate sides with the "pre-war" forward shifted bracing pattern, wood binding & rosette, a smaller headstock & faux tortoiseshell tuner buttons the 2000 series is all solid wood & the 3000 series has an ebony fretboard & bridge with maple binding & ab rosette the 500-700s are the natura series (composite saddle & nut 1 11/16") & the 1000-3000s are the supranatura (1 3/4" nut on the grand auditorium) all finishes are satin nitrocell, except on the Concorda series & the 300 series (which have a laminate top, sides & back) they have 6 body sizes - the D (dreadnought), G (grand auditorium) O (orchestra), T (travel 7/8" size), S (stage/grand auditorium body w/3 1/2" depth) & F (pointfive 1/2" size) the D has a 4 7/8" body depth, the G 4 5/8", the T 4 3/8" & the O 4 1/8" - the F has a 1 5/8" nut (which is primarily designed for a very young child) they have a wide range of guitars & woods (sitka, cedar & engelmann tops, sapele & rosewood laminate & solid african mahogany & solid rosewood b&s) http://www.waldenguitars.com/ in terms of build quality & finish, i've seen some "high-end" $3k guitars that exhibited more short comings & flaws than waldens' barely $2XX 500 series - tone, playability, feel, materials, fit & finish, & overall value are impressive (imho) congrats on the G3000

I too am a Walden fan, I have a D740 and love it. What strings do you find the best?
