Default Elite Acoustics D6-58 Review

Really impressed with this amp, does anyone here own/gig with one?

First off your voice, never heard you sing before, you have great voice. It is very smooth, textured and interesting and I could listen for a full show and not get bored.

Excellent review as always, I like your enthusiasm you obviously love this product. Members here that have EAE gear rave about them and I can see why. The price at $1200 might seem steep but when you compare to a Bose S1 it is double the power output, has a full digital mixer on board and so many more features. Seems well worth the price for what you are getting.

Great review, as always, Aaron and now I know why you hit me up on FB PM about it! There's at least one guy here that uses the EAE amps. Actually, I think I've seen two of them.

Like I said in my PM reply, I use just the X6 mixer and we love it in combination with our Bose S1. But if I wanted an all-in-one solution I would definitely look into the DX series of amps. Especially if we needed more power. I love their mixer and it's easy to dial in great tone for any instrument and vocals. I have the four main channels programmed in for her vocals, my vocals, one channel for my Martin and one channel for my Cole Clarks.

The one thing I wish they had on the top of the amps is a standalone notch in addition to the internal notch. The internal notch works great once I learned how to use it and I've got it programmed for my guitars but from a playing out standpoint it would be nice to have the additional one on the top to dial out those pesky ones that rear their head due to room and positioning issues on-the-fly.

I also noticed on their (EAE) website that at the last NAMM show they seemed to debut a D6-58 but in a nice wood cabinet. But I still don't see them for sale so I'm assuming a production delay due to COVID, perhaps. That would interest me as I love amps with wood cabinets.

I use the d-68 mk2 for smaller venues.
I had bought one of elite acoustics
M6br8 about 5 years ago. They were badged
Sunrise gear I think. They were refurbished
Units and on ebay were quite the deal.
I was so impressed with the sound.
I went and purchased a d68 for more power.
At the time it was 40 watts. I sold my aer compact 60-3..
I sent them an email
saying it would be nice if the aux out had it's own
Eq..allowing me to use the d68 as a monitor with
A second powered qsc as a main. The aux out
Eq could separately eq the qsc.
They responded to me saying they hadn't thought of using the d68 this way and would include that feature in the next upgrade.
Which they did ..its only coding..

About a year later they emailed me
With an offer to upgrade my d68 to 80 watts
And a lithium battery. I said sure. 40 watts
was a bit weak and I found myself bumping
up against that at gigs occasionally.
This in my opinion is excellent customer service.
The d658 is if course the big brother
to the d68. More wattage same mixer.
But the big thing is the side pole mount.
Such a simple thing but makes a big difference
In using this amp live. Up on a pole you cant
See the mixer/controls on the d68 . The d658
You can...brilliant!!
There is also gate and compression
In the menu as well..
I asked them about the wood cabs and it's a custom order
thing. You just let them know you want it.
Also they can laser etch the grill cloth with your personal logo.
I have corresponded with them several times over the years.
Their response time to my emails during buisness has been
within hours. Not days like most companies.
Just a great company imho.
Ha..can you tell I'm a fan??

Can anyone speak on the dispersion of this amp? Maybe compare to the S1 pro?

The notch is only three presses of the channel button I think. There’s a phase, notch, compressor and noise gate in each channel.

I own/play out with the smaller D6-8 and absolutely adore it. While it sounds wonderful on my guitar, so do a lot of other amps. Where it blows away the competition is on vocals.

Elite fans. Please feel free to write your comments on my YouTube review. I’m sure the company would appreciate it as would I.

Hi Aaron,

will it replace the JBL EON ONE compact and Bose S1 in your own gear list?

Cheers,
Cuki

Yes but not based on weight. Those speakers are 15lbs and can be carried by bus and this Elite is 30lbs.

Yeah no wonder it sounds better if it weights twice more!

Jawdropping tone and functionality on that thing - I'm very likely to get one after this review provided I can sell my current gear.
Hope Aaron gets a cut on the free promotion! You rarely hear an amp that reproduces the mix so perfectly.

I, too, would like to know if anyone has checked on it’s dispersion. Thx.
