Did you take this into account when you ordered your Emerald?

Lol - no, I didn't. Maybe it's a good thing that Alistair is in California all next week after all! Not worried about the guitar, after all it is carbon fiber.

A rare hurricane in that area. I see on Facebook that the Emerald shop is closed today due to the storm, but they are still monitoring/answering e-mail and social media. I hope it passes quickly and damage free for those in the path.

Production suspended to allow a temporary switch to carbon fiber surfboards.

Said on news they had a storm like these years ago and it blew over millions of trees. Maybe that made them switch to carbon fiber?

Rare indeed.
Not a good day to be out on the windward hills of Ireland, where winds are expected to be the strongest. I think Emerald is tucked away in a valley near Donegal, or at least I hope so. The Irish are a tough lot. Wishing them a safe day ... everywhere. |

YIKES!! From Emerald Guitars Facebook page;
NOTICE With Donegal expected to be one of the counties to be hit worst by #HurricaneOphelia in Ireland, the Emerald Guitars office will be closed today. The team is still available to answer any questions by email and social media. The National Emergency Coordination Group has put a Red Weather Alert in place for the entire country. Please stay safe everyone! |

I emailed Sean this morning to wish him luck with the storm. He replied almost immediately that he was emailing from home and the storm was just about to hit them and they were hunkered down. It sounds like the strength had subsided some but he said there were already three report deaths from those in the path earlier.
I'll email him again tomorrow to see how they all fared. I wouldn't doubt seeing something from Alistair who while safely in California this week I'm sure must be really worried about all his friends, employees and business left in the path. |

Dear all,
Thank you very much for your expressions of concern. Donegal and the north-west escaped the worst as Ophelia passed over Ireland yesterday. However, it did sadly claim three lives as it made its way up the west coast. People are still travelling with caution this morning while debris blown out onto roads and fallen trees are being cleared and electricity wires damaged are being fixed. Meanwhile back here at Emerald HQ production will continue as normal today. Thank you all again for your concern, we really appreciate it, especially as we know that many of you only know too well what kind of damage harsh weather can cause. Best wishes from all the team.
