Default Is there a rule about inquiring about the cost of luthier repairs on non-Taylors?

I mean...on this site. I know this might be politically ncorrect but I inquired earlier about a guitar that my son broke last night...the headstock snapped. I was wondering what I should expect in repair costs from a luthier and if folks have seen good results. I think the thread was dob'd.

Anyone?

I have no idea what you should expect, but that is definitely within the rules.

Cool...I'll try the question again...

My son dropped one of my acoustic guitars...the headstock snapped in two. It looks to be a clean break.

What's a typical headstock repair cost and do they typically hold up well.

The guitar is not very expensive but it has a ton of sentimental value.

Thanks,

John

I can't speak to your specific situation, but I know that Les Paul guitars are prone to snapping at the headstock when they are dropped. I've heard plenty of people say that the guitar is structurally more sound after the repair.

With a clean break, I'm sure a decent luthier would be able to save your guitar.

Good luck!

I emailed the guy who actually built the guitar and he asked me to mail the guitar back to him and he'd take care of it one way or another. Didn't talk about price and I didn't ask...I'll just bite it and tell the wife after-the-fact.
