One of my favorite songs : Don't bang the drum, by The Waterboys

Great verses all end up with this "Bang the drum like monkeys do"

Well here we are in a special place
What are you gonna do here?
Now we stand in a special place
What will you do here?
What show of soul are we gonna get from you?
It could be deliverance, or history
Under these skies so blue
Could be something true,
But if I know you you'll bang the drum
Like monkeys do

Monkeys bang drums ?

Anything by the J Geils band and the Steve miller band's "Take the money and run"
This here's a story about Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue
Two young lovers with nothin' better to do
Than sit around the house, get high, and watch the tube
And here is what happened when they decided to cut loose

I thought the thread was about mysterious lyrics ?
The above example is completely literal and continues on to tell what happened when the sheriff caught up with them, IIRC.

So is Mr. Geils' song about his baby being in the centrefold, which he found a little disconcerting

I got the lyrics from the internet, we all know that can't be wrong, right ?

Don't know the artist nor the correct spelling, innagodadavita. I understand he was high and the lyric was actually in the garden of Eden.

"Question: Who is the Queen of Corona?
Answer: Rosie is the Queen of Corona in the Paul Simon song "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard." Mr. Simon says the song was 'pure confection' and had no meaning to real people or events. It's just a catchy tune and he got a laugh out of singing the lyrics. In other words, there is no Queen Rosie. She's Queen only in song.

Corona is a real place -- a neighborhood in Queens, New York, one of the five boroughs of NYC. Corona is known for being the long-time home of Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz musician. The name Corona means 'crown' in Spanish and Italian, which makes Rosie 'Queen of the Crown.'"

He could also be referring to the wind up monkey toy that pounded a drum.
