Composite Acoustics is officially closed
Just got off the phone with CA's vice president of sales and it is official, Composite Acoustics is closed. I don't have all the details of why this has happened or what the plans are if any to get the company back up, but I'm sure more info will come in the next few weeks.
Needless to say my heart goes out to all the employees who are now without a job. As for the guitars, all production has stopped and I'm told all inventory has been shipped to dealers so what is out there is it. Members that have deposits with me for the AGF OX models will have the option of a full refund or to move their deposit over to one of the remaining OX models I have in stock. Each of you will be contacted within the next twenty four hours to discuss your options. Again, this info came directly from CA, and it is offical. Ted |

Really sorry to hear that...
I found this very hard to believe. CA seems to offer excellent and very popular products. As a young company, it certainly shows a lot of promises. The only reason I can think of why a company would shut down is when they run out of cash, which means they can no longer pay for salaries, raw materials, overhead, etc. But then if CA indeed ran out of cash, I can't imagine no investor would come to the rescue. Or perhaps this was simply a testament of how bad the economy is. I'll be curious to know the reason why they shut down. But I certainly hope one day a bigger guitar company or an investor will buyout and revive the company. Last edited by revive; 03-02-2010 at 03:48 PM. |

I think in today's economic and financial climate, the quality of ones product and customer care matters...but it doesn't matter nearly as much as other factors (not all of which are under the company's control).

Lame!! Its always a drag to hear companies closing up and its always a drag when us as players lose options! CA made great instruments.

Dang. I guess that ends my plans for a GX.
As the ONLY AFFORDABLE carbon fiber guitar I was hoping they would continue to fine tune their product. I guess that's why no one at CA has answered my emails and calls... Dang. Too bad. By the way, rumor has it that Rainsong has not been doing too well....frankly, I think all of the guitar companies are hurting. That's why you need tons of cash, tough to do for a new company though. Oh, and I guess the UMGF guys do know what they're talking about after all... Kaman, I mean, Fender ought to buy them out!!!! I think it would be a good match. I'm guessing warranty support has ended, as well?
If so, will the price of existing inventory drop due to lack of a warranty or go up due to finite supply?

Well, that explains why I didn't hear back from them
To a great guitar and a great idea. I hope there is a comeback in the future. |

This news saddens me a great deal, as CA was one of the few guitars that I truly lusted for and was on my "definitely some day" list.
I say "definitely some day" because there is no way in hell that I can afford one right now, nor any other high end, or even higher end entry level guitars. Guitars are just too expensive for many people, especially in todays tumultuous economic times. I lost my job last year as well as many others, I was fortunate to find other employment, but I had to leave my family back home and relocate half way across the counrty to work so I can support my family and continue to pay our mortgage. I've seen my wife and son once in the last 7 months. Times suck, I hope things get better for everyone soon! |

Aw man that's to bad. I hate to see a great guitar not being built. I've had a couple of them.

I speculated on one of the other threads that eventually the carbon manufacturers would be acquired by one of the other bigger guitar makers. It seems like this would be one step closer, because I'm sure that somebody will be interested in purchasing their assets out of bankruptcy.
A shame- they seemed to be a well-run company that put out a good product. I really like my Cargo.
