Sorry, these are pre-sold... as a courtesy, I'll share the real pics with their proud owners first. Maybe we'll see them in a NGD post or two, sooner than later.

Why is Martin changing anything with the D-28 - the most iconic guitar of the guitar industry. Anything different will not be a D-28 anymore. It will be something different. They should call it the D-29 or something. All the old D-28's will become the sought after models. I hope this doesn't turn into another "New Coke" fiasco.

I doubt it? It sure didn't happen when Martin "re-introduced" the 2012 D-18. I suspect this will be very similar...

I respectfully disagree. IMO, the new forward shifted bracing pattern, vintage style butterbean tuners, and 1 3/4 nut MLO/PA taper neck virtually guarantee that these will fly off the shelves.

It's going to be a monster hit, my prediction.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to them showing up on the used market in a year or so. Might just have to snag one for myself then!

Agree with Brencat and Llew! The 2017 D-28 specs are highly desireable and to many, ... Preferable! Myself included.

The D28 has had changes in bracing, nut width, neck profile, top and back woods, and binding style over the decades. The current change is to be expected. Like the three previous posters, my prediction is that this version will be a huge success for Martin.

Played a 2017 D-28 today. What a great guitar. They had a regular D-28 in stock and to me the new D-28 is a huge upgrade. Just my opinion of course.

Hi Jeff. Was that in Texas you got to compare them? What dealer were you at?
