Because I’m bored, I’ll offer a few possibilities having owned a few :

1. Consistently closer to the bass biased Martin vintage voicing.
2. Dovetail neck joint
3. More lightly built, often ‘right to the edge,’ for optimal resonance.
4. More forgiving playability, especially after initial break-in.
5. Resale not as good as Collings = extreme value bought used.

Let’s compare these to the OP when he responds.

I definitely agree with you on the bass biased voicing and playability. The few OM Santa Cruz guitars I've played THUD and they play like butter compared to my Bourgeois' for example that feels like it's telling me "that's all you've got?" frequently.

I am currently looking for a Santa Cruz OM. My preference goes towards a short scale model, but I am open to a standard length as well. Unfortunately, I am not considering a Pre-War (OM/PW) at this time, but please feel free to reach out with any other models you may be looking to sell.

When reaching out, please include pictures, specs, and the condition of the guitar. If you have a sound clip, that would especially be great! I am ready to purchase, but I'm also not in a rush.

Thanks to all who reach out and happy guitar selling/buying to everyone!

Edit: I am looking to keep the total below $3,500 depending on the condition of the guitar.
I think I saw something that fit that at Shoenberg Music.

Thanks
Thank you for the link! Unfortunately, I am only considering Santa Cruz right now.

In addition to the great points brencat brought up, there are two reasons why I am exclusively considering Santa Cruz guitars:

1) I really like Richard Hoover and the operation he is running.
2) When playing Santa Cruz OMs compared to Collings, Huss & Dalton, etc. I found the tone and playability to fit my preferences the most.

Each of these companies make great guitars, but quite simply SCGC matches my preferences.

Thank you for letting me know. I took a look, but I did not see an OM model listed.

I think less people buying guitars in stores right now means fewer people selling their guitars (Santa Cruz OMs ) to fund purchases. Bump

Arrow Here's one

Its asking price is a bit above your range, but a nice example. Dealer might be willing to deal. It's probably opened up wonderfully.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link Bob, I appreciate it! Given the older age of the guitar paired with the price, I'm going to pass. A few people have recommended that I try to get a guitar made more recently (2005 and on), as it is their opinion that SCGC continuously improves their craftsmanship and that their guitars have improved a great deal since the early 2000s.

Might have already seen this:

To me, this is a bargain and it checks most of the boxes? Just depends if you're a sunburst fan. Looks to have some honest wear, but the saddle height is great and they've done some maintenance work on it.

Thanks for sharing the link! It looks like it sold pretty quickly. I would hesitantly consider a sunburst depending on how close of a "match" it is to my main electric (I'd prefer them not to be too similar):

(Not my actual guitar, just a picture of the model for reference.)
