NGD - Santa Cruz OM
Last Saturday I made another dangerous trip to The Music Emporium to check out a new arrival they had posted on their website. I have been pretty good about following a one-in/one-out routine and only had one guitar I was willing to consider as a trade option. I brought my trusty Bourgeois Redwood OM along just in case. Well here I am a week later. The Bourgeois is gone and a great new SCGC OM sits in my lap. It really is a sweet guitar and I am thrilled to have this one. It has outstanding set of Rosewood/German woods, very nice trim options and a fantastic sound. This instrument exceeded my expectations right out of the box. I have been looking for this guitar for 2 or 3 years and finally pulled the trigger. It is physically beautiful. The fit & finish is impeccable. There is a nice clarity of sound with a solid and pleasing base response. It is sweet, balanced and it responds equally well to finger style and flatpicking. There is plenty of headroom, yet it is tremendously responsive to a very light touch. I have been playing more finger style recently and I appreciate how well this guitar can bridge both playing styles. This guitar fits in nicely with it’s other “rack mates” and adds something different to the mix. Here are a couple of pictures.

Very nice--is it new or preowned? I ask because I have a similar model, only with a cutaway, and the Euro top on that is still quite pale, even after nearly two years. Yours looks mature.
Anyway, congrats on a nice score. |

Seeing another one of these show up here should surprise no one that caught Brendan's NGD recordings and photos. A sweet, sweet guitar, congrats.
