Default Emerald strap button

Does anyone besides me have issues with the straps on guitars with pick ups?
I just purchased a X 20 and there is not much surface area on the pickup button for a Strap to fit securely. I hope I explained that correctly. I have several straps and even the thinnest one does not feel secure.
Thanks

FWIW I've taken some sandpaper to the area around the bottom loop, and this has worked for me...

The first thing I did with the Emeralds I owned (and every other guitar I've owned, for that matter) is to swap out the strap buttons for the Planet Waves/D'Addario style. They have a wide, recessed, angular slot that straps fit in nice and securely even thick leather ones. They also work with the D'Addario strap lock system which is my preferred for its simplicity. It's a great design that installs super easy as well, unlike some other strap lock systems I used that were a bear to install especially on thick leather straps.

This one - you can get them brass (gold), black or chrome:

The front is great. The rear where the pick up is is the one that I am having issues with.

Check this device out. I’ve never used one, but recall good reviews here on the AGF.

Try this for your end pin. Using it on my LR Baggs Anthem. Works on the Element too.

David,
I use the Tapastring StrapKeeper on all of my guitars. It works very well.

Those Music Nomad gadgets look pretty slick - always wanted to try one but I no longer have a guitar that needs it.

You can also thin the leather as RP suggested, and enlarge the hole so it matches the diameter of the jack.

just open op the hole a little bit.

A sharp drill bit to ream out the hole, and a xacto knife to lengthen the slot a bit will do it just fine

if you don't have a drill, just an xacto knife with a few cuts and you're in!

here's another pro tip: Taylor straps come with a correctly sized endpin jack hole on the strap.

I use these as well on most of my guitars. They work great. You can also swap out that button for your preferred style. I always put on my D'Addario buttons so they work with my strap locks. Just make sure when you order it you get the correct one - metric or standard.

+1. I have tried a bunch of different ones and had the music nomad also works but not as well as the tapastring.

When I ordered my Emerald I had the forethought to ask them to leave the standard strap pin in place, and install the pickup a few inches counterclockwise. (sort of where you might find it on a Les Paul)

Otherwise, yeah, there are various solutions, none great.

The tapastring works ok.

Does the standard strap pin hold straps securely? Curious because I prefer pure acoustics with no pickup.

A 3/8 hollow punch will make the correct size hole for a Taylor endpin.

It holds as well as any normal strap pin. I.e. much better than a pickup, but it's not captive. If you want a captive strap you need to use a locking button as is commonplace on electrics.
