The Taylor and Breedlove connection

I suppose this is old news to most.

In the recent issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine, it had the Breedlove story and how Bob Taylor helped them out. Even though they were his employees at the start.

Good stuff. And even makes me a bigger Taylor fan.

it is said that Larry Breedlove like surfin more than building guitars up north so he moved back to CA and then back to Taylor. He is one of the luthiers in the R.Taylor shop.

I do not know if there is or isn't any connection. However Kim Breedlove is the "Breedlove" in Breedlove Guitars located in Bend Oregon.

Yes, Kim Breedlove (Larrys brother) is now the Breedlove Guitars we know, but.....Breedlove guitars was started by Larry Breedlove and Steve Henderson, Steve was a friend of Bob Taylors and worked at Taylor before he and Larry started Breedlove, Larry works at R. Taylor....and Kim now is the master luthier at Breedlove.....there is a Taylor connection. frank

Yes, there is a connection....IIRC, the Acoustic Guitar article quotes Breedlove as saying that Bob Taylor was very instrumental in their beginnings and success...to the point that he even helped them build some jigs that are still in use today...and allowed them use of some machines.

IIRC, the article also states Bob Taylor threw warranty work their way so they could get a little capital until they were able to "walk" on their own.
