Default Finishing Oregon Myrtle

Do you typically us pore/grain filler for Oregon Myrtle.

As I look at the sanded surface a can't see much open pores and what I can see is so small and shallow.

Thanks

From my (limited) experience any, even very small, pores will not truly show themselves until the final finish is applied and that final finish will determine how much any pores will need filling.

I've seen True Oil applied with no filler as that builder liked to see the natural pores of the wood and conversely a high gloss lacquer finish will show even the smallest pores without any filler. So it depends on what your finishing plans are.

I use oil varnish, so my experience may be atypical. The typical schedule I use, sealer plus 8 coats, and waiting for a month to cure before blocking flat prior to buffing, seems to do the job w/o using porefiller. The same as I do with maple and pernambuco and many other nearly poreless woods.
