I mean if there was ‘guitar smell’ cologne I’d be bathing in it. To each their own.

In my younger years I seem to recall most of the guitars around me smelled of pot and stale beer. I thought all of the wood used to make guitars smelled that way... until I was much older.
I wonder if there would be a market for a scented guitar polish, and/or fretboard oil, that smelled like that? I could call it... Hemp n' Hops, or something like that...

Yes, some of these woods do smell quite nice and I infrequently and momentarily enjoy a whiff of some great wood aroma wafting from a guitar, but I don't make any effort to preserve it. I typically have one guitar in a stand near the "couch" and keep the others in their case for reasons other than aroma therapy.

I would get past the idea of casing them is a blocker for playing them,
I'm 67, been playing since I was 10, IMHO the case is not the problem. Btw I do get the "aroma" thing. My Hog / Cedar 2005 Taylor Grand Symphony has the aroma thing going in and I love that. my acoustics spend their "not being played time" cased with humidifiers in the dry winter months and maybe why the wood retains their natural aromas. My advice is simple, take the 30 seconds and case them.
