Default one shoe blues- original tune

Howdy all, This tune fell into my lap in the wee hours of the morning a couple of days before we were to finish recording our cd. Its one of those tunes that wrote itself. Some of you know what I'm talking about. It was put on the recording almost as a joke and the goal was to make it sound as a pathetic lament. Ironically, we spent more time mixing and tweaking this track than we did any other on the recording. It took a long time to convince the sound guy to take ALL of the compression off so you could hear the dynamics. It still didnt turn out as I had hoped, but we were on a tight budget, so I had to settle. Im not trying to sell the cd or anything. Just wanted to share this.

I really enjoyed that.
And I know exactly what you mean about tunes "falling into your lap"
Good job, and thanks for letting us listen.

Very well done! The other songs are pretty funky...good groove and fun sounding.

Cool song with some sweet blues picking (possibly a little reverb heavy...) It really needs the dynamics when you dig in on the bendy slides and such--good for you for insisting on ditching the compression!

Very enjoyable. Dynamic shift during the breaks is cool. A much hotter lead break would have been good. I was expecting that on the last break. Just a thought. Still very good tho'..... Cheers

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Yes the reverb patch was changed during the mastering. Much to my disappointment. Compression was also added AGAIN during the mastering which cut down on the dynamics. When it was turned over to be mastered, the middle sections were very "hot" and jumped out at you. It has to be playable on the radio is what I kept hearing from the sound guys. Truth of the matter is, in my opinion, it needed to be recorded by someone who knows how to record acoustic guitars. But again it was an afterthought for the recording, and it is what it is. Thanx again everyone.

I really enjoyed it, in fact it is my favourite track. I know what you mean 'it wrote itself'. I think it is really important that you get up in the small hours when you hear the call and at least write it down, play it and ultimately record it. Thank you for 'baring your sole'!
