Default Build "video" of my 2012 Olson SJ

Hello everyone,

I just gathered a bunch of photos that Jim Olson had sent me back in 2012 -- and put together a "video" which I wanted to share with you.

The sound track was recorded with the guitar that is built on the photos.

Thanks for watching.

I could listen to you play all afternoon... a drink in my hand, and my wife at my side.

And that Olson SJ "The Tree" is my favorite of yours

Best, B

My music tends to be depressing -- don't drink too much!

Sweet!

Looks like he has some machining skill too, to look at some of his jigs...

Lovely recording and video, Mau! As I was listening, my wife came around the corner and said before she even saw the screen, "Is that Mau?" It sure is! Very lovely piece of music and what an amazing looking guitar!

That's one of the things I find most interesting about Olson. I think it was the Will Ackerman interview where he decided to make his own thickness sander. Deciding to set up a table saw with all the blades needed to cut fret slots - mounted on one arbor - is some serious thinking about efficiency (and a face palm moment).

What are you playing?? That sounds fantastic - are you just running through a scale or something? I'd love to be able to fiddle around like that.

I've had the privilege to visit Jim's shop three times -- but I didn't really pay attention since I know nothing about jigs and machinery. I usually need help to change my wipers...

Excellent guitar and playing. The expression and the transparency of the sound of your guitar is unsurpassed.

Thanks Matt.

I originally came up with a couple of simple chord progressions in open Dm tuning and decided to add a melody on top of it. Most of it was improvised on the fly as I recorded myself for 15-20 minutes and kept the better chunk.
