My longest owned guitars are ones that were given to me back in the mid 1980s. A Gibson LG1 from 1967 and a Gibson ES125. Both were just handed over to me when I started playing, thinking I could get some use out of them but frankly they are mostly art for the room and never get played. Note the larger replaced bridge on the LG1. They before me had it replaced to make it sound better and hide the bad replacement before, from a bad glue job. It looks weird and I would never be seen out with this thing but it was free.
Neither of these are worth getting back into original condition so they sit.\

My two oldest guitars are my two best guitars. I purchased the Wingert 00 in 2003 and received my custom Wingert E in 2004.
I sold a Martin that I had had for 10 years to help fund the Wingerts. I don't intend to part with those. Best, Jayne |

I must be too old...
The Levin in my signature was given to me, by my parents, back in the fall of 1968. It was the only guitar I had for decades. In 2006 I bought a Westerly Guild, and then I bought and sold 6 different models. Now after many trades and purchases, I inspect my Levin annually, but play great instruments often. Thanks AGF!

My oldest guitar is my 1967 Martin D-35. It's 50 years old this year (2017) but I acquired the guitar in 1969. So I have owned this guitar for 48 years. I still value this guitar greatly.

A Guild D55 I bought new in 1991...26 years.
It was my first really good guitar. I intend to hang on to it. It's an amazing guitar. All my bluegrass pickin buddies look sideways at me until they hear it. |

Oldest electric: 1989 Kramer pointy thing. Not my oldest but the oldest electric I still own.
Oldest acoustic: 197? Kay plywood finger slicer. I started "playing" with it (as a toy) we were both relatively new. Now it's a pine box with a neck that has bowed under years of strain. Sorry, no pictures. Neither are ogle-worthy.

Gurian
Michael Gurian made my custom Jumbo Rosewood Herringbone in '78. It has seen a lot of other guitars come and go since then.
