I played the bigger model, 814 I guess, at GC and was most impressed. Congratulations!

Great looking guitar you have there! When I was looking at the 800 series I was trying to decide between an 814 and an 812c 12-fret. I ended up going with the 814 (which is still on order), but I still think about the 812 at times.

Congratulations, I reckon you have a great looking guitar and as an owner of a 814 I know the sound will be fantastic as well:-) These guitars just get better and better, enjoy.

Hi ,

Welcome to the forum !

Very nice guitar - looks beautiful !

How are sound differences between both models ? And what about the 12 vs 14fret-thing ?

Grats to you man! That's a beauty. I just bought a Taylor 816ce myself last week. The 800's are amazing and hard to put down. I should probably upload pics as a belated NGD.

Jipiboi,

I like your 14-fret Taylor 812 as it seems just right in size. I had a 2014 Taylor 812ce 12-Fret that sounded great but was just too small to be comfortable to play. I found the combination of the short-scale and moving the bridge back towards the center of the soundboard made the guitar just too uncomfortable and cramped for me to play. It was beautiful but my next Taylor x12/x12ce will be a 14-fret model like yours.

Hi! thanks, I've never tried a 12fret model but from what i've heard and read it seems that the 12fret it's supposed to be/feel smaller and warmer sounding than the 14.

I agree with you completely, actually I first thought on the 814 because of the body size, but when i tried the 812 i really liked how it felt and the size as you said feels just right to record, play live, travel, strum, finger pick, and everything in between. I definitely recommend the 812 14-fret (Y)

Being a small guy, the Taylor 12 frets fit me like a glove. My recent (used) 514e felt big when I first picked it up.
