Krupps coffee grinder that I bought sometime in 1984. Had it so long that the whirling beans have worn away the plastic inside of the lid. Used to grind coffee approximately 14,400 times. And counting...

Parchment paper for cooking (roasting.) Soooo much clean-up completely negated.
I agree that radiant floor heat is pretty nice too! |

What's the best gadget you ever bought?
Don’t have it but might get it cause it seems pretty interesting.

My wife bought years ago a thing that you put on top of an apple, press down, and voila - the apple is cut into 10 segments, with the core isolated in the middle. Just fab for breakfast time.

I'd love to be able to say it was those X Ray glasses ordered from the back of a late 60s comic book.

My own favorite isn't so much a gadget per se as a tool, my folding knife with a pocket clip for jeans and shorts (or an occasional suit jacket inside pocket if someone's getting married or buried). I use it several times a day, every day, for countless tasks. Might seem redundant to some right at first, but it's arguably that most useful thing I carry on my person.
Gotta agree with Hubcapsc... Mrs. Tinnitus LOVES our rechargeable Dyson vacuum. Actually so do I. Super light weight and no cord to deploy or stow. No procrastination, errant stuff gets picked up right now and 2 seconds later it's hanging back on the wall charger - out of sight and out of mind. Last edited by tinnitus; 12-19-2023 at 07:33 PM. |

At the moment, the best gadgets I NEVER bought but were gifted to me are an older iPad mini and an Anker blue tooth speaker. They had been languishing for a while, but in a moment of inspiration today I put them together and made a home-made 'Tone Traveler' device! It is in the back room right now blasting string band music into my old D-28 that just had a lot of work done to it and needs a wake up.

I'm pretty certain you could make those work with the right attitude - at least from the POV of your subjects I'd say my cats, but I didn't buy them...

In my garage, it's this cheapo oscillating tool. They come in all brands, though my old single-speed corded one from Harbor Freight works just fine. You can get name-brand compatible attachments anywhere when the stock parts wear out. I replaced that middle one (circled in the picture) with a higher quality fine-tooth Bosch blade for $9-10. It blasts through all kinds of wood, drywall, beams, brick, composites, nails, etc. If it died, I'd go get another one today.

We have one. When my oldest was little, she made up names/words all the time. Ours became "The Clopper". Thought that fit pretty well.
