Truss rod adjustment on 2008 National
Hi all,
I've done the reading and know that I have a normal thread (post 2005) truss rod. I was playing around with getting the neck relief correct and not have a lot of luck. Removing the strings and the nut to get a better look at whats going on I'm finding that if I put more pressure on the truss rod (tighten) I start to see more neck dip at the 7th fret. Is this possible? I can't seem to get it flat with no string tension. I'm going to set it as low as I can, then string it up. Looks like I can get between 8 and 10 thousandths. Does this make sense? And thanks National for designing a truss rod nut you can't fully remove the truss rod nut with the access they provide Jeff |

More info. The board is much flatter from 1 to 12 frets( 12 fret body join). I'm getting about 4 thousandths relief there (again, no string tension). Still can't get it flat with no string tension.

Have you called or emailed National?

Yes, I've reached out to National. In general I'm curious if anyone has seen this behaviour. This is the first truss rod adjustment that hasn't been straightforward.

Jason at National got back to me. They seemed to think the neck was within a normal range. The 12 fret hump on the body is manageable as this will never be a super low action guitar. I was impressed how quickly they got right back to me.
Thanks. |
