Difference in Ovation pickup systems
I'm going to go ahead and get some kind of Ovation nylon, for Chet/Jerry fingerstyle stuff. I need a good amplified sound.
I played a an older (American) Ovation but the battery cover was gone so couldn't hear it plugged in. It had the OP24+ pickup in it. Assuming it works as it should, how would that compare with the pickups that are in the new Korean 1773ax-4's? Thanks for any perspective

With the exception of their Thinline UST, Ovation uses the same pickup (the OPK, I believe?) in all their nice models, the difference being the preamp each comes fitted with. Generally speaking, the preamps have different EQ options, some have an XLR out, and the Op-Pro Studio model has a compressor and saturation effect on it (before Baggs made the Session, as a matter of fact).
I don't have one anymore but I will always love Ovation. A truly great guitar.

Thank you. I am getting one for sure. So it is the preamp that is different, not the pickup, that makes sense. Thank you.
