Default Affordable digi 4 track?

So, as a result of another thread, I'm really contemplating picking up a little 4 track digital recorder. Looking for great price, really user friendly, and , ideally, some way to get files from the recorder to my Mac computers from time to time.

What do you seasoned pros recommend? Is it alright to discuss pricing too (they aren't made by Taylor, just wondering)?

Thanks.

Take a close look at the Digidesign Mbox. I like mine quite a bit.

I'm not sure about getting it to the mac, but the recent acoustic guitar mag (with Tracy Chapman) reviewed 3 or so of the digital 4 tracks.

What would be a good unit for the PC. I am looking for something that will let me upload to the PC and will hold am much music as possible before it is uploaded. If I have to chance smartcards(?) or something like that it would be fine.

The Mbox is cross platform. And, ProTools is the best! Go check it out. Seriously.

I just picked up the Tascam Pocketstudio 5. This was one of the units reviewed in the earlier mentioned AG issue (very helpful review) Tascam's was the only unit to mix down to mp3 format, which makes transfers to the PC a breeze (via USB) The unit is pretty easy to use (if I can use it, any one can) and it has lots of bells and whistles.
