Smile Hollow Body Electric

Any hollow body players? I've been looking around at them and want to buy a semi hollow body. I know differant music, differant guitars but do you play a semi or a full hollow body? What do you play and why do you like it? Survey says.................

I have a Heritage 575 and I love it. It's a hollow body, which is what I wanted. I use it for jazz and as a backup to my Taylor during praise & worship.

I didn't choose a semi-hollow, because my EC Strat takes care of my boogie and blues needs.

I would suggest looking into the Heritage line for whichever you choose. They make some excellent guitars at a fraction of the Gibson price.

I have a early 70's Gibson Super 400. A great guitar. Great action and Smooth sound. I am thinking of getting a Heritage eagle which sports a solid spruce top maple sides and floating pickup. (less holes) The Hertitage builders are the same that used to build the old classic gibsons. The new Gibsons can't touch the hertitages. Plus they are cheaper. I use it for jazz, not rock. I am not a big fan semi's, to thin of a sound.

Good luck.

I have a G&L ASAT Classic Semi-Hollow and a Hamer Newport as well. Both incredible guitars. I can get every (non-acoustic) sound I want out of them.

I have a Godin Radiator, and the body is routed out under the humongus face plate/pickguard, does that count?

PRS McCarty Archtop II. Coooooool.

Also Les Paul Elegant and Florentine. They sure beat the heck out of the Standard we have.

Another semi-hollowbody.

1966 Gibson ES345TD, with Gibson flatwire 11's, for the mellow sound.

I've got a '69 Gibson ES150D that used to belong to a guitar idol of mine and it's got to be the easiest to play neck I've ever seen. Recently though I've been looking for something with more punch, can still be jazz, and won't feed back, so last week picked up a ES 135 Limited with the '57 PAF humbuckers. Actually the one I have is temporary till a blonde one shows up. It's from the new plant in Memphis and I'd say they've got a ways to go in the detail department. Assuming the blonde one shows up with the same set up, I'm looking at about $200 to get the frets and setup to what I'd call professional. In addition I'll be adding a Bigsby tailpiece. Still I think it's worth it at $999.

I had an Old Gibson (forgot the model) but was a simi simi hollow body. It was bigger than a 335 had almost no cut out and that think weighed a ton. It was the most heavy guitar Ive ever seen or owned. Ive never seen another one but I know it was 2 inches think and had to be solid Oak on the inside. It weighed 22 pounds!! (a solid les paul weighs about 8). The one good thing I could say was that baby had sustain. Triple Humbuckers and a floyd rose. I tried to play it at a gig one night (when i was a young and stong man) and that thing wore me out. Like I said Ive never seen another so Im curious as to if anyone has ever seen one of these. Had a name not a number. JW

I have a Gibson ES335-TD I bought new in '78 for $640.00. It is one of the most versatile electrics you will ever find solid, hollow, or semi. A true jack of all trades.

The 335 is a nice guitar. In that relm of guitar the only thing I ever found better was an old Ric. JW

Well, I bought a washburn HB35S. I've had washburns before and they've played pretty nice. I like the double cutaway and the buzz feiten tuning system. It will do for now!
