Default Linking Gallery Photos

From time to time we get questions about how to insert an image from the gallery into a post on the forum. Here is how to go about doing that.

Go to the gallery and click on the image you are wanting to display in your post (be sure you have the full-size image pulled up, not the thumbnail.)

Right click on the image itself and go to Properties. A gray properties menu will appear, the third item down the list will be the URL info. Highlight the full URL, then copy it [CTL, C].

Next, in your post click on the Image button, this will insert the [IMG] text.

Paste the full URL [CTL, V] then, click the Image button again to get the [/IMG] text to complete the post.

If you followed the steps correctly, when you preview the post, the image will be visible.

Hopefully this will help!

Lisa, are you going to 'sticky' this thread? Might be helpful for those of us who need refreshers on info like this

If you use FireFox, and you right click on an image, you can use the "Copy Image Location" item... it's much faster and simpler than going to the Properties item. Other directions are the same... Ctrl+V to paste the image URL into the IMG tag...

dthumb, you need to have the image hosted on another site like imageshack.us. Then you can hotlink to that image by using the method Lisa describes above.

Is it just me or can anyone else see Bea Arthur in the grain of that wood? Dude, I bet you could get 15K for that on eBay.

Hmmm. When I tried to insert a photo per the above instructions, I get what looks like a hyperlink instead of a photo in the post when I view via the preview post. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Ah ha. I think I figured it out.
