Smile Primo 1995 Taylor LKSM12 SOLD AGF THANKS ALL

SOLD AGF! Thanks all!!!

95 Taylor LKSM 12

Greetings AGF friends

Offering my SUPER CLEAN 1995 Taylor LKSM-12. Jumbo 12 string in beautiful perfectly quarter sawn Old Mahogany and highly silked Primo Sitka. The LKSMs used Taylor’s finest woods. And back then they sure had some!
This is a KILLER example of a "Golden Age Taylor" and an ICONIC design!
If you are a "Golden Age" Taylor fan and seeking a SUPER PLAYABLE and SUPER CLEAN LKSM

lovingly packed, shipped, and insured on my Heritage account using pirateship.com

Any purchase fees on the buyer, but PPFF, Venmo, or Zelle should work

Up on Reverb with more pics, for more moolah, of course

https://reverb.com/item/76208659-tay...atural-uv-poly

Yes, of course there are some less expensive ones out there, but not like this! Read on to see many reasons why…

With the exception of a tiny bit of finish lift on the underside of the neck heel, This is almost Mint (except tuner buttons and correctly placed strap button)

This recently received the TLC equivalent of a Taylor revive spa treatment, and PERFECT SET UP a couple months ago.

This axe is acoustic gig ready, and needs nothing to go to work , (unless you desire a pickup)

All the awesome work was done by my good friend and former Taylor Senior Repair Tech, Tim Luranc.
Tim Luranc was already working at American Dream when Bob Taylor and Kurt Lustig bought it, and was Taylor’s employee #1 until his retirement, a few years ago!

I am selling this one, as I also have a sweet 1996 as well and the Tim L setup is VERY desirable by those in the know! Plus, the custom Camel Shin Bone Nut, and no pickup, ever.

Tim’s work included a neck set, slight fret level and dress, making and installing a beautiful Camel Shin Bone Nut, and installing and setup a Taylor Double Compensated Bone Saddle. As well as a complete inspection and a bit of buffing.

Tim has done and (still does occasional) setups for TONS of major stars for at least 30 years .
Including Prince, John Denver, America, and Leo Kottke!

Bob Taylor made Tim Head Luthier in charge of the R.Taylor company for the entire six years of their production, for excellent reasons!

Set ups do NOT get better than Tim's TLC!!!
Tim set this one up to be tuned to C concert, two whole steps down from standard tuning, and a half step lower than Leo’s usual C#, using Elixir PB HEAVY Nanoweb strings.
This tuning allows playing harmonicas in normal keys, which is a big plus for me. I already have too many harps, please don’t make me need more!!! Hahaha

This guitar will go all the way down to Drop B flat as it is setup with a new Elixir PB Kottke Heavy set.
This beautiful axe plays like butter and will really rattle your chest. Extremely smooth, DEEP and
balanced tone!!!!

Tim helped Leo design his Signature Models. Yow! Some serious MOJO here, folks!!!

With the exception of the tiny bit of finish lift on the underside of the neck heel, This Entire guitar is CLEAN AND CLEAR!!! No repairs, ever, or any issues at all.
I did replace the original tuner buttons with black resin Grover buttons to lighten the headstock quite a bit.
These vintage Grovers are super smooth and stable, and work perfectly. They sure make quick work of the pesky chore of tuning 12 strings, and it stays in tune very well!
Original shiny gold Grover mini buttons and a couple extra black resin mini buttons will be included in the
Original, beautiful, excellent condition Pink Poodle case. Case is SUPER CLEAN and Smells fine, too.

No electronics and never had any.
It does have a neck strap pin in the correct spot. And the original Ebony strap pin at the Butt.

Fretboard Journal did a nice little article (mentioning the dropped LK C# tuning) about these in 2013.
10 years ago, now. How time flies:

Catch of the Day: 1993 Taylor Leo Kottke Signature Model - Fretboard Journal

Happy to answer any questions, so fire away. Text or call my cell: 928-525-1189

If this listing seems familiar it may be because I sold two similar (but not quite as clean) LKSMs a few years ago before Carpal Tunnel surgery made playing these possible for me again! woohoo

some answers:

Extremely easy Set Up:
4.5/64" clearance big E at fret 12, and 3/64" (!). Small E at 12th fret.

Tim is a wizard, and did help design these!!! He went all out on this setup as I intended to gig it.
About 9/64" Saddle showing in the middle of the Saddle.
Taylor bridges are not radiused on top so more saddle shows in the middle
This 90s neck is slim enough it feels more like 1 13/16 than the actual 1 7/8.
I have small hands and I can chord with a thumb over, no problem with this Super Playing TLC setup.

Lots of Today’s pics in Reverb listing:

https://reverb.com/item/76208659-tay...atural-uv-poly

I will tune down to B or so for shipping.
It will be double boxed and swaddled like fine china!
OCD packing is my default mode.
I always pack like the devil, insure completely, and pray! Hahaha
Play on gang and have FUN!

Wow!! Beautiful Leo Kottke Taylor 12 string! Gorgeous instrument and I'm sure the tone is wonderful and its easy to play- nothing like having an instrument designed for Leo and having Tim set it up... Hard to believe it's 30 years old... Partly because 1993 doesn't' feel that long ago : )

GLWS Paul! I'm sure someone will love playing this special guitar. And Happy Thanksgiving to you and Cindy and to all here on the forum!

Smile Thanks Beth!

Thank You Beth, and hope your Thanksgiving was great, too.

Beth knows about Tim Luranc’s set ups and has a few in her sweet collection.

This guitar is so easy to play it is difficult to wrap my head around the fact it is a 12 string…

But when you hear it, Holy Cow! It is in Baritone range.

BTW, never tune a 12 with Heavys to E. They will implode pretty fast.

That is why so many old Stellas blew up. They too were designed to be tuned DOWN. But they had longer necks too…

Cheers

Paul

Smile Up………..

To the top from page 6

Over the last 9 years I have sold more than a few guitars with Tim Luranc setups here! Every buyer was quite pleased, last I heard…

This one could pass as new in a shop, except for being setup so well and the resin tuner buttons. Original buttons in the primo OHSC.

You will NOT find an easier playing 25.5” scale 12 string.

This will be swaddled like fine china, and prepped for interstellar shipping!

Well insulated and insured on my Heritage account.

Questions are welcome

928-525-1189

Happy Wednesday

Paul

Wow Paul…this is one amazing 12 string. I can only imaging its playability with the magic of Tims set up. Being an LK, the tone has got to be out of this world too.
Someone is going to be very happy!
GLWS and Merry Christmas pal

Smile Thank You Godfather

Thanks Godfather!!!

It really is a PEACH of a low tuned 12. Want to tune to E or just down to D?

No problem with a regular light 12 string set.

But why, when you can RUMBLE???

Haha

Cheers and salutations

Paul

Default Primo 1995 Taylor LKSM12 Super TLC set up!!!

IMG_1702492109.623717.jpgIMG_1702492132.401805.jpg

Update, I just found a small finish boo-boo! 12/13/23. Sigh.

Photos of a small amount of finish lift on the underside of the neck heel.

The issue is only on the very edge of the body, under the neck heel.

I chose photos that made the problem most visible. You can’t see it easily in most light.

So the new lower price:
SOLD AGF

Fortunately, the little bit of finish lift is on the underside of the neck, where no one will ever see it, including the driver!
I did not see it until this morning… And I have eyeballed this beauty from stem to Stern repeatedly.

Cheers

Paul
