I just read about Charmed Life Picks in Bluegrass Today. I am glad that our very own Scott Memmer and his picks are getting some recognition. I know many of us AGFers have been playing CLPs since the beginning.

I concur, Scott makes wonderful picks and Charmed Life should be known to more players than just AGF members-- And now, I Hope It Will.

He'll be at Wintergrass and his blem shop is open again. Really, I don't know what makes them a blem. I've bought both.

Are $45 Guitar Picks Worth the Cost? A Roundup of Tortoiseshell-Alternative Picks from Boutique Makers Like Br1ck, I’ve bought regular and blemished picks from Charmed Life Picks, and I can’t tell what causes the blemished picks to be called blems. |

Thanks to all the posters for your thoughtfulness and support. It's been a long pull, but I've had so much fun. July 1st begins our 8th year in business. It's hard to believe this business has now accounted for more than 10% of my life span (yes, I'm old as dirt).
Since 2014, AGF has always felt like our home away from home. Be Safe, Everyone, Scott Memmer |

I really have two Blue Chips I don't use, and they are really good picks. I bought a couple of teardrop casein tear drop picks from the Charmed Life blem store and they just grew on me for the way they come off the strings and bring out upper frequencies without harshness I found in Primetones.
I think, good as they are for guitar, they really bring out tone in a mandolin. I've found the big triangle casein with the holes drilled in them to be my favorite go to for everything. But I have a CL pick, vespel I think, that is very good too. I'm sure there are many great pick makers, but once I get something I really like, I'm reluctant to change. I feel the same about Dazzo pickups. Scott told me one of my big triangles was one of the most flawless picks he'd ever made, but I must confess, I can't tell it from the blems. If you are a gotta try everything type, add CL to your list, but maybe start with them. You could save in the end. I just wish I was Billy Strings so people would listen to me.

I just purchased a blem small triangle this morning since it appears to be the same size as my BC TP-48; looking forward to trying it out.

Through the PhotoShop genius of one of my customers, I was finally able to get a decent JPG copy of the Bluegrass Today review, no small feat considering the minimal resolution of the orginal source. I wanted to publicly thank Jim M. for his valor above and beyond the call of duty in performing this service.
I would also be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the writer of the piece -- John Lawless, editor-in-chief of Bluegrass Today -- who took the photos I sent him, along with my usual rambling narrative, and molded both into something resembling coherence. Since John posted his review, coupled with your generosity in sharing our vision, we have donated more than $500.00 of your contributions to sea turtle preservation. ![]() Finally, I want to thank the good folks at http://www.seeturtles.org/,our charity of choice at the moment for all our sea turtle donations. We will be seeking out other orgs as we move forward, but thus far http://www.seeturtles.org/has been the sole recipient of your largess to this point. Check them out. A great site, performing a vital service. We keep a running tally of our sea turtle donations on the upper right corner of our homepage, updated monthly. We hope in time to establish our own 501 (c) (3) nonprofit for our continued efforts, but this ain't cheap in California (what is?). In the meantime, we want to be as transparent as possible about your donations. We pull no administrative fees from the monies collected. 100% goes to the turtles. ![]() Thanks Much, Scott Memmer Last edited by Charmed Life Picks; 03-12-2023 at 10:43 AM. |
