Default NGD Furch Red Master's Choice Gc-SR SPA

Quick story. My wife gave me the green light on a used 814ce a few weeks ago, but I was too slow and missed it. In the back of my mind I still wanted to try Furch but couldn't find any close by, but knew of one place 1.5hrs away. One of the fine members here told me to get in the car and make the drive. So I did yesterday. I was looking at the Yellow series and he had a nice Yellow with spruce/rosewood, but no pickup. I had been looking at a used Furch Yellow with Cedar, but wasn't sold on that for my style of playing. The spruce/rosewood combo was just what I was looking for. I tried about 5 different Furch models (the walnut was very interesting!) and reluctantly tried a Red Master's Choice, knowing that was well out of my budget. I didn't even give the Red the same amount of time fully knowing it wasn't going to be mine. But boy, was it pretty. And the sound was killer. After playing through them all, went outside to discuss with my wife. After some back and forth, and me telling her I'd keep shopping, she gets up and walks inside and tells the owner I'm taking the Red one! She looks and me and says, "You work hard, now play hard." So I now have this beauty at home. I'm still a bit in shock.

I love my Furch! They are what I always wanted Taylor to sound like. I highly recommend putting 80/20 strings on it, really helps bring out the bass just enough to be more balanced, and less treble heavy!

Also, props to you willing to walk away, and I think your wife sounds like a keeper.

Finally, a professional set up will take it from great playing to incredible, worth the $60 bucks!

That is one sweet looking guitar. I sold a a Furch Red CR. Like you Cedar was not the right fit for me. I see a Red SR in my Future. Congratulations for both a sweet guitar and for a fantastic wife.

Ok, this guitar is really beautiful!
But what impresses me even more is where you find all those wifes. I mean this is not the first story about a wonderful supporting partner.
I haven’t been that lucky - and I tried hard!

So, what are you doing right or what am I doing wrong? Or is it just luck?

That is a sweet guitar! Beautiful!

I prefer Phosphor Bronze on my Furch for fingerpicking and flatpicking, although 80/20 does sound better for strumming (in my opinion of course).

I also recommend getting it set up, maybe at the same shop for free? The action and saddle came quite high on mine new.

Enjoy in good health!

Wow! Stunning guitar! Congratulations on the new guitar! Congratulations on a great wife too! I hope she enjoys your playing, as you are likely going to be doing a fair amount of it on this guitar!
