Default Double your pleasure - McKnight and Woolson 00-12 ***SOLD***

This guitar was the result of a collaborative project between two world class luthiers: Tim McKnight and Paul Woolson. Each contributed their unique expertise in "double" construction. Tim built the double back and sides. Paul built the double top, and I believe the 5 piece laminated neck. Tim applied a beautiful finish that is both wonderfully smooth and durable. Now 12 years old, it is in excellent condition, completely settled, and has developed a rich mature voice. I can't say it has double the volume, but this instrument is surprisingly loud compared with most. The double top yields an immediate response followed by a nice blend of upper partials and size defying sustain and bass. This is all enhanced by the sound port for the player's enjoyment. Sound is of course relative, but I'll post some recently recorded sound clips to give you a rough idea. I've played this at old time jams along with multiple other guitars, fiddles, banjos, dulcimers, etc, and it really holds its own "in the
mix", almost always getting compliments on its great sound. Conversely, it's perfect for quiet couch playing sessions responsive to the lightest touch. Extremely comfortable small body 00 size. Absolutely no issues.

Some quick and dirty recordings to give you an idea of it's sound.

Std tuning with pick:

Since the first demo of this guitar I heard was done with a partial capo, I decided to follow tradition with a tune of mine own.

Std tuning - partial capo - bare fingers:

What a unique story with the collaboration. It sounds very nice and at that price, I am somewhat shocked it is still here John.

This is a very uniquely built instrument with double top and b/s.
The top is a sandwiched piece with a thin waffle like core called nomex. Double tops were used in fine classical guitars. However, Woolson uses this on his acoustic builds. I have one.

I owned this guitar a few years ago. It is sweet.

Thanks Tom. Yes, the collaboration is an interesting story. The guitar traveled back and forth between the two luthiers a few times during the build. Not the most efficient building method ... but great results allowing Tim and Paul to blend their unique talents.
