I have seen these before. Can't remember if we discussed them here or somewhere else.

The Irish Flutes look intriguing. (not that I know how to play one)

Very cool instruments. Can't afford those and cf guitars--but I do have a great cf Kazoo--I suppose that counts as a wind instrument. It's very reliable, never needs tuning and handles heat, cold and humidity. Competes well with the banjo.

Nothing against these instruments and more power to them for the innovation. But isn't the whole point of using CF to get light weight and strength, plus some ergonomic contours that cannot be readily done in wood? So I don't really see the point. Just because you CAN do something does not mean that you SHOULD. Maybe it's just me?? I truly don't mean to rain on anyone's parade.

My wife has a black resin/plastic Irish flute that she bought years ago that performs very well and looks like ebony, and some PVC Native American flutes that work well. Maybe CF would shave a few ounces of weight off that flute, but that isn't critical. A good friend has a carbon fiber harp that is truly wonderful and there are benefits for that one.

Good grief! What is this world coming to anyway? I suppose next we will be seeing carbon fiber guitars?!?!?!?!
