Default New fretboard side markers on CF

I love my CA GX, but it has very small and inconspicuous side markers. Especially with everything being black, I sometimes have a hard time finding my spot when I have to make a big jump in position, particularly on stage with low light.

Is it any more difficult to put new side markers on a CF guitar than a wood guitar? I know there are stickers out there designed for the job (cheap to try out) but curious how much work it would be for a permanent modification.

Install these:

Drill, glue with black CA, file/sand flush.

Just get some luminescent paint and dab a little on--better than Brill Cream(I'm dating myself now).

Alistair put luminlay dots on my fretboard neck. Pretty cool. Not sure about aftermarket installation.

Hmm. I don't know that I need luminescent markers--a little larger and white will probably be fine--but it's an interesting idea!

Just make sure you are okay with the reviews on Stew Mac before purchasing those dots.

You could try inlaystickers.com. I added the simple dots to my OF660 and for $6 they work fine.

I've used these:

https://www.amazon.com/Fretboard-Mar...inlay+stickers

A little clear nail polish after installation helps them last longer (they will eventually peel off and need to be replaced)

I don't see any reason why putting side dots on the fretboard of a CF guitar would be any different than wood. The fretboard is usually cast epoxy or something similar. Carefully drill a shallow hole in the side and set in the new dot. Or put a tiny drop of bright colored paint using a toothpick to fill the hole. In the past some have put Wite-Out typing correction fluid in there. (I assume that product is still around - haven't used it in years myself).

If you are handy this should be doable, but go slowly and carefully. A good tech should also be able to handle the job. Stickers are a good temporary solution that is easily reversible.

Eatswodo;

Thank you for the correction. I blame spell check for the error. Dumb computer.

I also have the OF660 which I love, but hate the fretboard side markers. Dark grey to light grey, at best is almost useless. I don't need them that often, but when learning something new, I tend to use them a lot. But OF660 dots, even in very bright light, are so hard to see. Not sure why simple "white" anything--plastic, mother of pearl, or othe--couldn't be used.

I just ordered a set of the stickers just mentioned since all shipping is free on Amazon till just before Christmas.

How well do the fretboard side stickers stay on? How quickly should I expect them to peel off when playing? Just curious how much "stick" they have.

Appears they weren't well received...…….

I use white latex house paint for side markers on my antique Martins with no original markers. Easily removed if necessary.

The ones I used on my OF660 have been great so far...no movement, no peeling. I chose the abalone look and can see them much better than the gray dots
