Default SOLD: Edmonds koa 12 fret dread

This is a shallow bodied dreadnought guitar from Jimmy Edmonds. The tone is amazing, balanced across the range with a clear, sweet bass. It plays nicely with no buzzes anywhere on the neck. The Carpathian spruce top is perfectly quarter sawn and the figured koa is gorgeous. Cosmetically it’s near perfect, just some light swirls on the pick guard. I’m selling it to help fund another koa Edmonds 12 fret in a 000 size. If for any reason you are not happy with this guitar, let me know within seven days after you receive it and I’ll refund your money in full. I would only ask that you pay for insured return shipping. Specs are as follows:

Solid Carpathian top
Solid Koa Back and sides
20 Ύ” body length
15 5/8” lower bout width
11 ½” upper bout width
10 ½” waist
3 ½” to 4 3/16” body depth
24.9” scale length
1 25/32' nut width
2 5/16” saddle spacing
Ebony fingerboard with four slotted square position markers
28H style top trim
Ebony bound body, fingerboard, headstock veneer, and heel cap
Varnish finish
Hide glue construction
3/32” action E at 12th fret (with .012 to .54 gauge strings)
2/32” action e at 12th fret (with .012 to .54 gauge strings)
Three-on-a-plate snakewood buttoned slothead waverly tuners.
Bevelled pick guard
Cloth stays
High quality Cedar Creek case with blue lining

The guitar has what I consider one minor issue. On the low E string the bridge pin slot has to be inserted facing away from the string. Otherwise the ball tends to get pulled up into the bridge plate. It's been this way since I got it in 2015 (I'm not he original owner) and I never think about except when I change the strings.

Hi Paul,

I guess I'd call it a "C" shape, maybe just a touch on the shallow side. To me the feel is soft, it's as easy for me to play barre chords on it as anything I've played.

Jimmy Edmonds builds awesome guitars. Excellent build quality and playability.

I have played many and loved them all.

This is a very good deal.

Hey Frank!

This means you've had two of my guitars, this and the NB, both 12-fretters. I am the original owner and had it built to my specs. I am dead serious when I say that, out of all the guitars I've owned and have passed on to others, this is
one of two I miss the most, I can only imagine how good it sounds now! Jimmy was also very pleased with the outcome.

Hey Rob,

I still have that 000-18NB I bought from you almost six years ago. The Edmonds sounds soooooo good now. What I plan to do is to have Jimmy build me a hybrid of these two, sort of a Koa 000-NB, with the same neck as the Edmonds dread.

I love the NB -- the shorter reach needed for first position chords is easier on my fretting hand as I get older, and the 000 size is just more comfortable for me. As you know, it has a great sound, just not quite on a par with the Edmonds.

BTW, Frank is just great to deal with! And this is a complete guitar, for an astounding price. Plays like butter, sounds like heaven (warm, yet sparkly), and sits comfortably in the lap. Visually, very tastefully executed.

Frank, I really like your idea for the new build. And I'm guessing that Jimmy's pretty excited about it also. Will be thrilled to see/hear the results.

With my Blake being in the shop for some fret work I've been playing the Edmonds a lot for the past week. I was wavering a little bit as to whether I should really sell it, but now that I've been in touch with Jimmy about building a Blake-ish koa guitar, he's excited, and I am too.

Getting some solid interest. I'll miss this one when it's gone, been playing it a lot the past week or so.

Still available. As beautiful as the koa is, the sound is even more so.
