Default Emerald X Comparison Photos

X7 and X10

(Sorry about the pesky lil green guy from Canada... if I didn't let at least one photo of him in here I'd never hear the end of it, screaming and yelling and sneaking around at night messing up the tuning (his alternate tunings are just impossible) on all these guitars and letting pokey loose to run around the place and do what horses do all over.)

X10 and X20

X20 and X30

X30 on left this time and the X20. ↓

You don't happen to have any X7 vs X20 comparison shots laying about, do you? That might be the choice that some folks thinking about Emerald for the first time may be considering. Speaking purely hypothetically of course... I'm sure I've seen some elsewhere, but these are really good side by side shots, so., if you happen to have a couple...

Thank you for that! Reading the numbers on a chart is one thing, but it is sure nice to see them side by side. I especially appreciate the X10/X20 comparison photos: confirms my thinking that the X10 is going to be a great fit between my older X7 and the X20.

Your "public service" is appreciated!

Kramster, this beats the heck of when I was a kid looking at the Sears Christmas catalog! I appreciated being able to play your "vintage" X10 earlier this year - that convinced me on the size. While I can see there are some definite differences between that "vintage" and the newest X10, your photos really show how close in size the new X7 and X10 are now. The profile views give a good indication of how each will "fit," as well. I like the look of the thinner neck profile on the X10 as compared to the X20.

Since I had decided to not talk about "the wait," (well, until the "shipping date" came and went), I hadn't gotten myself too worked up over my order. Seeing these photos induces some excitement, but also sets my mind at ease about what I ordered.

Thanks again.

Great pictures -- thank you Kramster!

I especially like that clean bevel line on the back top-side of the X10 and X30.

Very nice Mr. K. I'm going to nominate you for a CF service award, accompanied by one free guitar from each CF maker.

Kramster,

Can you confirm that the upperside of the lower bout is shallower than the lowerside of the lower bout? It looks similar to what Journey Instruments likes to boast about on the OF660 as the manzer wedge that is supposed to increase bass. Perhaps my eyes are deceiving me?

Very useful! At one point, when I was much earlier in the process, I seriously contemplated going for the X30 instead of the X20. After seeing them side-by-side, I'm glad I stuck with the X20 - the X30 looks like quite an armful in comparison. I know they've been very careful with the ergonomics to minimize its girth.

Do you (or anyone else who's been fortunate enough to play both) really notice the extra bulk?

As an aside, I'd bet that an X30 baritone would be a most awesome beast.

Thank you for one of the best posts I’ve ever seen, at least on a guitar site.
Man, they weren’t kidding when they said the X30 was a “big guitar”. Bet it sounds terrific.

You can tell it is bigger when you play it... in the photos it looks way bigger...I didn't realize it till I looked at said photos how much bigger... sound great too

Not "supposed", it does increase bass response.

Hmmm.

The difference between the new X7 and X10 body appears to be minuscule.

Very tempted to see about a 12-string on one of those.
