Default Thomas Rein RJN-3C Malaysian Blackwood/Euro-Moon, w/adjustable-neck!

MAKE an offer...I might surprise you and say "yes"...

I picked up this RJN-3C Thomas Rein last year when I discovered I could play full-scale guitars again. As a 25.4” scale guitar, and with stunning tone and woods, it was the perfect re-entry for me with no-waiting on a custom order…purchased from Dream Guitars.

I have now settled on a 25” scale, and Tom has started a new instrument for me…and I have other possibilities for builders with the 25” scale…so this beautiful and tonally-great guitar is going to need a new home.

Here is someone’s chance to similarly own a no-waiting custom guitar, handcrafted by one of the best builders out there.

This guitar has an extremely articulate voice, super-clear and concise trebles, and an overall deep resonance that puts it “up there” with the best of the best builders.

Fabulous/rare Malaysian Blackwood for the back & sides, and Euro-moon-spruce top. Custom herringbone rosette with matching backstrip.

Gotoh Delta 510 tuners. High-end Cedar Creek case in perfect/new condition. Passive undersaddle pick-up from David Enke's "Open to Source Sensors". I use this with a ToneDexter, but one could easily add an internal (or a different external) pre-amp if you needed more gain.

Neck and back/sides are a thin-but-durable poly-finish, with the top being presented with French polish as Tom’s standard. There is some very minor wear on the top next to the high e string, which is easily remedied by Tom or anyone with experienced with French polish. This is too minor to catch in any kind of photograph.

This guitar is built with double-sides for super-stiff rims, and also features one of the most important modern options around; that of an adjustable neck. Tom’s RJN design allows for a neck angle adjustment while under tension, so there is no guesswork…and the guitar will simply never need a neck reset. Ever.

Set-up is at 3/32” and 2/32”, and can be adjusted either direction (with the RJN neck design) in seconds, with no string removal, no sanding, no shims (or new saddle), etc.

Basic specs:
Nut width - 1.75
Bridge spacing - 2.25
Body depth at tail – 4.3"
Body width across lower bout - 15-1/4"
Scale - 25.4"

Here is a link to the original specs from Dream Guitars:
https://www.dreamguitars.com/shop/ne...pean-moon.html

Price: $7,450 (cash, wire-transfer, bank check) plus actual shipping. This guitar would currently run about $9,700 from Tom.

PLEASE email only, to LP@LarryPattis.com for *any* questions, etc.

Here are some very casual videos, raw sound, no processing whatsoever:

A Rein has been on my list for some time now. Hide glue construction, French polish, adjustable neck, pure and elegant design, and beautiful tone, from a builder with 40+ years of experience (builds also classical guitars)...sounds like a perfect guitar to me. This one seems to have a particularly deep and hunting tone. Everybody I talked to about Thomas Rein guitars has been deeply impressed.

If I didn't have a commission with Joel Michaud, I would be finding a way to own this. All I can say is congrats to the person who buys this-you won't regret it. I have a RJN-5 with similar woods (lutz spruce/malaysian blackwood) and it has spoiled me to say the least.

Larry, I've been talking to Tom about your build and while I won't reveal any details, I'm excited to see how it turns out. Best of luck on this sale.

Just purchased a guitar from Larry in the last month.
Pictures, videos, and description were right on now that I have the guitar in hand. Excellent communications from start to finish along with a great packing job. Very easy to work with.

Couldn't be happier with the guitar.

If you are seriously considering this Thomas Rein, don't hesitate.

GLWTS,

Mark

Thanks for linking to this info, Alan...I was remiss in not doing so earlier!

...and thanks for *all* the kind words, folks...this is indeed a super-high-quality instrument, with all the modern/current build details (and more, with the RJN adjustable neck-angle feature!)...from a builder who is producing nothing less than spectacular sounding/playing guitars...!

MAKE an offer...I might surprise you and say "yes"...
