Saw Bruce Springsteen on Broadway
I was lucky enough to see Bruce’s show on Broadway. We had seats that were about the 20th row. He played an acoustic show telling his life story. If you’re a Bruce fan it’s a very enjoyable evening. What surprised me was that he played four Takamine’s (a jumbo, two GA’s and a 12 string). I don’t know his hand size but he was able to get his thumb two strings down onto the fretboard. I was surprised that he only played one brand of guitar. Near the end of the show Patti Scialfa joined him for two songs also with a Takamine. Takamine says they don’t pay any artists to play their guitars but I find it odd that that was the only brand being played.
The sound system was great but my wife thought the guitars did not sound that good. I’m average at best but she’s used to hearing me play and I was impressed that she heard what I did. Follow up... I fired up my Fender Hot Rod Deville amp and plugged in my Taylor 414ce. The sound was off just like what I heard at the Bruce on Broadway show. I’ll bet he’s using an electric amp for his guitars sound. Someone should introduce him to Fishman amps.

Not sure if he has an endorsement deal, or just likes the brand. Garth Brooks plays Takamine. Other than that, I have no idea.

I don't remember seeing him ever use anything but a Takamine for acoustic stuff. Doesn't mean it didn't happen...

Just looked at the Takamine website and the list of artists who play Takamine acoustics. It is long and distinguished. And I would expect well compensated.
