Default "The Tree" Mahogany - It doesn't get better than this.

Guys,

Check this one out. Arguably the most beautiful R. Taylor I'm aware of has entered the used market. Of course this one is clad in "The Tree" Mahogany, but it also has the highly desirable "Tortoise-shell" figure. Gorgeous. OBSCENELY gorgeous! Enjoy...

Some people should learn how to post photos on forums. (I know it should be 'fora' but I'm not that anal).

Thanks for your thoughtful contribution, Dave

I forget how unusual it is that I'm posting from a 30" display. I'll tweak the sizing for ya.

Wow that is an incredible set of "The Tree" indeed. One of the prettiest I've seen.

Too bad the top isn't up to par...

Nice! There's even a "space invader" in the back! Sweet!

I've got a friend here in town, Mau, who has a bunch of sets considerably nicer than that. It's for sale but he's had a hard time finding buyers.

Hope you're well,

jm

Yeah, even a couple 1 piece backs.

The sets belonging to my friend have cells more distinct, more defined. It's the nicest I've ever seen and I saw 100s of board feet when it was first brought into the US decades ago.

Hi Jim,

As you know, I have a "Tree" guitar which I bought when it was much more reasonably priced. Nowadays I wouldn't pay the premium for it.

I would pay more because a certain wood costs more -- but I would never pay more just for the privilege of using certain woods (which seems to be the new costing model for the top builders that I'm aware of).

I think the fact that it's genuine mahogany adds to its prestige but in terms of sheer beauty there are plenty of other woods that rival the "Tree".

That being said, for those who can afford it, I still think it's the top contender on the market.

Not a fan of Taylor guitars. Their sound just doesn't do it for me. Nor am I a fan of Kurt Lustig. That all said; if I was one of those collectors who pay silly money to hang a guitar as a piece of art; I don't think you could do much better. Even if I can't unsee that Space Invader now.

Geez, that thing is gorgeous. Certainly in the category of "Don't ding it!"

That's almost a perfect specimen of "The Tree". Perfectly book-matched! Lovely! Makes me miss my SCGC that had the same figuring as this one.
