Default NGD Emerald X7 arrived yesterday

Emerald does it right! I already read Brendan688's thread on new Emerald he received and agree with everything he said in his first post, a lot of what I was going to write but won't repeat here.

First impression, how does an acoustic guitar fit in that little box the postman brought?

Second, the mysterious cardboard and taped package inside with the marker printed words, "open me."

The super cool case that looks like it should hold a few tennis rackets.

The guitar that feels substantial. I can't figure out how it can be so small.

The amber color is more subtle than I expected.

The sound is clear and sweet. Not boxy or small. Plenty of bass but even and good for any purpose. It is no HD-28, but I didn't expect that.

This is a real acoustic guitar suited to use anywhere and easy to carry. It is equipped with Anthem SL electronics. I haven't tried that yet but have no doubt this will sound great amplified.

Congratulations Amy!! so glad your happy with it and your expectations are met, I have yet to read a negative review on Emeralds, a true business model others should heed. Enjoy! Jerry

Congrats! Looks great. It is significantly smaller than your dread. Feels comfortable to hold?

It IS comfortable! The neck feels very normal. The body tucks right in. The only problem would be it is so shiny and also a little rounded that it slides if you slouch but I can work with that.

Super sexy. It's like the old and the new side by side really hits home the evolution in design.

My Emerald X7 is a few years old now (2012) and it's interesting to see how the gig bag has changed. Mine (on the left) seems to be quite a bit bulkier, and it's red, not green!

Default Shape detail and case

Interesting how they changed the case. The new one seems more in line with Emerald with the green. Yours looks kind of Go Buckeyes O-H-I-O!

I said something about the guitar slipping and guess I just thought all the edges were round but they are not. There is a bevel at the top lower bout which makes it seems to disappear under your arm. Then there is something I totally missed; the bottom of the waist tilts in which slopes the guitar back towards your body. The rest of the sides and edge have normal right angles with the top and back. Very nice ergonomics.

The new X7 case, to my eye, is an improvement. I have the red bag and it has always seemed a little too bulky to me. I eventually bought a Taylor Baby Gig Bag for just carrying around locally.

An older version of the Taylor bag apparently fit the X7 perfectly, but mine was a newer version with some features also changed. The X7 fits, but it's really too tight (short in length) and the head stretches the bag material tight--and the padding is minimal and cheap. It's still OK for hand carry situations and basic scratch protection--so not the best but it's hardly bigger than the guitar itself. The good news was I paid only $25.

The green Emerald bag seems like it's a better fit now for sure.

Hi Amy,

We are so pleased to hear that you like your new X7 and our little hand-made surprise that came with it . The X7's body is indeed ergonomically designed to sit comfortably on your lap while playing sitting down.

Just recently we got our new batch of bags which are now all green across the range, except for the Synergy X7 (We still have a batch of the previous design).

Wishing you continued enjoyment with your Emerald and best wishes from all the team here in Donegal.

Kind Regards,

Sean
