Default Emerald X10

I'm new to the CF guitar landscape, having recently purchased a Rainsong Shorty. I'm curious about the Emerald X10. My impression is that this is a model that was previously available and is now going through a redesign for future release. What were the former X10 specs and are there any ideas or hints as to what to expect from the redesigned model? I'm looking forward to the Emerald guitar field trips and this could be one on my list for auditioning.

Twang;

Hang on, you don't have long to wait. Alistair will be showcasing his new X10 very soon; you will love it.

If you get a chance to compare the existing X20 to whatever the new X10 might be it would be an interesting choice.

I know the X20 is a bit marmite on the aesthetics, but I love the sound that the unusual sound hole placement gives to me as the player.

I know what Marmite is, and I suppose it's not a compliment when you compare a guitar's appearance to Marmite, but I can't quite make the connection. Is it that Marmite rhymes with sh**e?

Ah, England and America, divided by a common language.

So, for the folks on your side of the pond...

Marmite is a strongly salty/yeasty spread, typically consumed on toast or in sandwiches. It tends to divide opinion!

So "like marmite" is an expression used to indicate something people either love or hate - with very few who sit in a middle ground.

p.s. I take it you're not a fan of the X20?

Actually, I'm a huge fan of the X20. The blue color option was introduced at my request, and I own the first one produced in that color. I've written extensive, glowing reviews about the X20, and Emerald has a profile of me on their Web site (although the profiles don't seem to be accessible now during the site rebuilding). I was just trying to decode your marmite reference, and and managed only to misinterpret you. To say that opinion is divided is much less negative than what I had imagined you meant! Perhaps I was too influenced by the appearance of the product, and my occasional encounters with rhyming slang.

Again - Ah!

Yes that blue is gorgeous, and was a front runner along the way for my own X20. For me, green won over due to daughter input, and I love it.

They are beautiful things.

Apologies to the OP for the cross-threading, but hopefully you'll get a chance to try all of Alistair's amazing creations.

For veterans of the late, lamented MacNichol carbon fiber forum, cross-threading, off-topic posts, good jokes, bad jokes, and genial chaos were a way of life. I always hope to see some of that spirit reflected in this little sub-forum

Girl walks into a bar, and asks the bartender for a double entendre.

So he gave her one.

"Divided by a common language." I love it. English has rules, but they are only good for about 50% of the time. In the meantime, we just fish around for meaning. Life is so cool.

But before we get completely off this "divided by a common language" theme, I want to say in my defense that my favorite author is Patrick O'Brian, and I grew up reading PG Wodehouse. I've also spent quite a lot of time in India, so I expect that I'm more comfortable with non-American strains of English than most Americans.

(And now I'm really in trouble for going waaay off topic.)

So...there's this innovative company in Ireland that produces guitars made of carbon fiber. One of their models is the X10, which is being re-designed...

Thread officially diverted to the original topic by the OP .

I am really curious about what the redesigned X10 will be like. I've been assuming that it would have a conventional center soundhole, but even that can't be taken for granted. The offset soundhole models originally included OS in their name (i. e. "X20-OS"), but now that the OS has been dropped, the names no longer give a clue.

Edit: Well… I see that my question has already been answered over here - http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...87#post4796887
