Congrats on the new guitar - very nice! I think you'll find the RainSong gives you good sound with plenty of EQ adjustment plugged in, too.
Like you, I bought my RainSong with the thought that it might replace the GSmini as my "travel" guitar. I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Mini, so I kept it. It certainly doesn't get as much play time these days. The RainSong just does so much, so well. Enjoy! Jim |

Hi Jon,
My RainSong is a Shorty SG-FLE... one of LA Guitars' forum-inspired limited edition Shortys with the shark fret markers and the abalone rosette. 12-fret. I find this size comfortable, and am impressed with the way it sounds and plays. My wood guitars include a Taylor 522ce 12-fret and a Taylor 814ce (tobacco burst). The Shorty compares/contrasts nicely. Lots of great options out there... the search is part of the adventure. Congrats again on yours! Jim |

I became intrigued by carbon fiber guitars a few years ago. I typically like a traditional look and was studying RainSong guitars. Around that same time in 2012 I saw Acoustic Guitar Magazine doing a video review of the Shorty on youtube. The tone of the guitar grabbed my attention immediately and I fell in love with what I heard.
I never really had reservations about what "kind' of guitars these were- I've always been very open minded having played primarily electric guitar for 15+ years and my first ever acoustic was an Ovation. After taking a special interest in acoustic music after seeing a concert in 2006 (literally revolutionized my thinking about the acoustic guitar) I began playing friends and nice acoustics at stores that has far superior tone than my Ovation did. I became determined to buy a nice wood acoustic and did back in 2008 with the purchase of a mid-level Breedlove. I played the Shorty and could not get the sound and comfort level of that guitar out of my mind- I had to drive 20+ miles just to test drive it. I knew I had to have one and finally acquired one a couple months ago. What it is made out of (what "kind" it is) is just icing on the cake really. Do I still love wood guitars? Absolutely. There is nothing more beautiful than handcrafted wood instruments and I'm pretty sure we all can agree. I also love the way my Breedlove smells. Carbon fiber just can't even begin to go there. But you know where it can go that my Breedlove can't (safely)? In the hot trunk of my car or out in chilly fall weather. Graphite guitars rock!

Congrats:
This model in particular was my favorite out of all the carbon guitars I have tried. They sound great.

Congrats and welcome to the CF club! I have two of them sitting about 5 feet away (my Parlor and Shorty). I wouldn't leave any of my wood instruments lying around like I will with these CF guitars... and so they get played often. I had a friend over jamming the other day and he was unfamiliar with the CF guitars... and it was funny to hear how surprised he was that they sounded so good.
