I actually like the Black Ice I traded for and really thought that I wouldn't. One of those things that needs to be seem in person, like the Alistair weave. Does not translate well to pictures.

I really like the black ice top! The rosette would look great with a simple double ring abalone inlay like the Shorty.

Is this just a Black Ice OM with a 12-fret neck? Or is it a shorty (hybrid back and sides) with a black ice top?
Either way, it's very cool. But the hybrid back and sides would make the price much more affordable.  EDIT: I checked out the page at LA Guitar Sales, and it looks like it's an all graphite body. So I think it's just a black ice OM with a 12-fret neck. It's too bad. I'd love to see them experiment with top materials with the hybrid back and sides. They are obviously able to make them for much less, and I think the top affect tone much more than the back and sides anyhow. If you could order any top type with a hybrid back and sides for a price point somewhere between the hybrid and the classic/concert/black ice, I think they would have a slam dunk. I know it starts to muddy the waters and maybe clog things up with a million SKU's, but I think it would be a great way to get a lot more Rainsongs out there.

I wasn't refuting the fact that its a custom black ice shorty. It just appears that it wasn't the specific type of custom black ice shorty I was thinking, that would probably result in a much cheaper price point. I'd love to know the price on this thing.
