Bruce, you just need to fly to the United States (it’s a short hop from Australia, right?) and spend the next three months roaming from one Gibson dealer and vintage instrument store to another - I’m sure you’ll find the perfect Gibson SJ-200 if you do.

Hope this helps.

The only Gibson I've ever owned, I still own and love - my Gibson C-0, 1965 if I remember correctly. A most excellent classical guitar.....

I could quite happily be locked up 'by accident' overnight in the Wildwood Guitar store in Colorado Wade.
They have 41 Gibson SJ-200 and variants on display.
I'd enjoy trying out every one of them.

Better book your ticket, then: a midnight raid on Wildwood sounds like a chance for one stop shopping for you!

Maybe you can get a discount on your airfare if you promise to provide live musical entertainment for all the weary travelers on the 20 hour flight back to Sydney. Tell them: “I specialize in songs by Bobby Goldsboro, the Captain and Tenille and Donnie & Marie Osmond!”

How could they resist such a golden opportunity?

Three right? For me I would have to say the LG2, J165, J45 and J200.

Here are my three favorite Gibsons, today anyways:

The J-29 with it's rosewood back/sides really sounds great. Relatively low cost and high quality Gibson acoustic, that performs with a lot of energy. It fills a room with music.

The L-00 Standard, the small body that sounds big. I could sit on the couch with this one all day, if the wife doesn't complain too much. Sounds and plays beautifully and light as a feather. There's no wasted space on this little guitar.

The third is a challenge between the Hummingbird and the J-45 They both sound good in their big bodied, mahogany sort of way. The bird has a nicer finish both visually and by feel; the neck is velvety smooth. The Bird also has a sweeter tone compared to the 45's darker sound. So I guess the Bird wins by a beak (apologies). I just realized there are no pics of the Bird anywhere that I can find. I'll have to fix that soon.

My Gibson experience is far less, so my list begins and ends at J-45. I've played two or three and they were great. J-45 could be "the one" in my book, but I've also always liked the funky retro cool vibe of the Hummingbird, although I've never played one.
I need to update my experience.

I still really like the J-45. I played a vintage (1950's) SJ-45 at a guitar show and it was just awesome. I also played a bunch of Hummingbirds and didn't like any of them.

I'd also like to have a Les Paul Studio and a 335 at some point. Iconic guitars that I could hang on my wall and stare at since I don't really have any need for them.

I have only two Gibson favourites, and for entirely different reasons; the Advanced Jumbo because the one I owned was the best sounding guitar I ever played, and is in my opinion the best acoustic Gibson makes (sadly not in the catalogue this year), and the J185 because it looks good in sunburst. I did briefly own a J185 Koa custom but it wasn't as nice as I hoped. A J200 I also owned was hugely disappointing in several ways; build quality mainly, and a very subdued tone. A friend's '57, however, is glorious.

My favorite Gibson is the Advanced Jumbo. I also like the small LG Gibsons from the mid to late 60s. Finally, a good J-45 is a joy to play, though I do not own one.

I also like my Gibson ES-335.

Awesome you have an L-130! I played an L-130 all over the SE for many years. It is a definite all time fav of mine. Unfortunately mine had an accident and is out of commission...

I like your choices Wade Hampton. The Hummingbird Artist is a really good guitar. So is the J-185.

Tough to say, but my 3:
L-130
J-15
J-200

Only have one. Gibson AG Parlor in rosewood.

Likely a "new model" you mentioned, Wade, as I had never heard of or seen one until I bought it off the forum in July.
