Thanks again, all. Got the Hiscoc Pro-II today, and it seems to live up to expectations. Time will ultimately tell. The 640 TKL will now house my birth-year D-18, and is a fine case for that job. My only complaints about it are the “latch teeth”, the lid tends to close, and least of all, you have to hold onto it when you set it down. It slides on everything. OTOH, I weighed it at 8 1/2 lbs. The hiscox is better in all those regards, except it is just over 10 lbs, still very comfortable weight.
