Couch Guitar - Small body
Looking for a solid couch guitar to hang on my wall. Anybody want to part with one? PM me with offers.
Wish list: Mandatory: Parlor or 0 or 00, would consider a 000 1 3/4” to 1 7/8” nut width 2 5/16” to 2 3/8” string spacing Black, sunburst, or natural finish Solid wood tone woods Preferred: Slotted head 12 fretter Chunky or V neck Short scale Under $1500 or better yet under $1000 Willing to stretch the budget for a Martin but open to other mid to high quality brands made in USA. Possible ideas: Martin 0, 00, 000 16 or 17 or 18. Vintage Martins. Custom Martins. Will have to educate me on other brands. I have a hard stop at $2k for the right guitar but then I’m venturing back into case queen territory. Last edited by Dave12M; 09-30-2021 at 01:10 PM. I have a Guild M20 for sale, just a few posts below yours. It certainly fits your criteria, minus the chunky neck and slotted headstock. Check it out and let me know if you are interested. Thanks! -Kestly |

Silly Moustache did reviews on two small body Eastman guitars you might want to consider. There is a comparison review on his YouTube channel.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEoTLQL7AaE The E40 00 is hard to find and a little spendy, but is available as an E20 00 at much lower cost. Both guitars are also available in mahogany. Small body, chunky necks, 1 13/16" nut with slot head. The finish on newer models is no longer nitro but is now a water based finish called TrueTone. |

I have a 000 size 70s Harmony H-162. It is a Baxendale conversion guitar. Has the vintage dry wood sound and the X bracing makes it sound very high level. 1 3/4 nut comfortable flatish C/D neck profile. Fits all your requirements and price. I will sell for $1500 Plus insurance and shipping etc to you on this site.

My two most recent acquisitions are both Eastmans - a size "0" and a size "00". Either or both may well be in or around your budget. I'm in the Uk, so I cannot speak of pricing where you are, but they would both meet your criteria. Sadly, Martin seems to have abandoned their original designs, apart from, prehaps the all mahogany 00015sm.

The small body Eastmans are the best for this price range, I think. I would go for an Eastman vs. any of the modern builds by Martin, etc., and you can get a good one for less than a grand. If you want wide nut and spacing, go for the parlor or 00. The SS versions have a narrower nut and spacing.
Would you consider a small vintage Gibson archtop? The L-30 and L-37 from the late 30s and 40s are 14'' and change and short scale--very easy to play. These can be had for below 2k. I had an L-37 from the late 30s with the most comfortable neck and sweet sweet sound. These play great with light Martin monel strings. I sold it and missed it so much I ended up getting a 1934 L-75. If you up the budget a bit, you could get a small 1920s Martin 2-17 or something. The bar frets make these a bit temperamental though. |

How about Blueridge BR-341, 361, 371 - all three fall into your list of wants and price range (used on the 371)
