He also played Gen Jeb Stuart In the Electric Mist.

And he made his acting debut in the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter." He played Loretta Lynn's father.

Levon's wake was open to the public and so many people, including myself, paid our respects to Levon. He gave so much to our town. He played many benefits and did many acts kindness. He was well loved. The main road into Woodstock is named after him: "Levon Helm Boulevard."

On the day that Levon died, I heard about it on the CBS morning news. Later that day, my wife and I were on the Thruway going north and we got passed by a hearse. I stayed behind it, thinking it might be Levon. I followed him as he got of at exit 19 for Kingston, went west on rt 28, and then turned onto rt 375. When we got to the Woodstock Playhouse, the hearse turned right taking Levon home an I turned left to go to my house in Shandaken.

They had a BUNCH of really great material.
You just described the life I'll probably be living in 2030. I just don't know if I'll be in the audience or the "house band."

I've jammed on a couple of their songs over the years. Only saw them once, in 1974, along with Jesse Colin Young, Santana, and CSN&Y.
