That's a very nice song and the recording is great. I obviously missed it last year, so glad you bumped the thread.

Very nice indeed Glenn. The new mic's pricey but certainly seems to work well in your set up.

Hi Frostie!

Well, how terrific that you have also learned to play this piece! I bet you find it as much of a challenge as I do!

Thank you for listening and for your kind and supportive comments here! It's greatly appreciated!

Hi David!

Thank you! I'm glad you thought this came out okay!

I really do like the sound of the Warm Audio WA-47 large diaphragm tube condenser mic! I have had it for a year now.

Have a great Christmas season David!

Great job Glenn...of course, now you have thrown off my learning curve....

This was one of the first pieces I learned back in '67. And I had completely forgotten about it! Now I have to relearn it!

Thank you Bob!

Thanks so much for taking time to comment!

I don't mean to make it look too easy, and in fact, it's not horribly hard with enough practice. The real challenge with this song is singing, keeping track of words and pitch, while also trying to keep track of your fingers. I can hear a few glitches in there, but... I really wanted to have fun with this so I didn't obsess too much about not reaching perfection.

Have a great Christmas Bob!

Hi GBS,

Yes, it's one of the first pieces I learned to play, too, but for me back towards 1964-65. I had not played this for years, so when I decided to do this, I also had to relearn it. The truth is, it wasn't too bad, though I know I am not as good at playing this today as I was when I was younger. Or, maybe I just have a selective memory and have forgotten all the mistakes of yesteryear.

Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment here! It's much appreciated!

Thank you Ghostpicker!

I'm so glad you thought this came out well and I really appreciate your commenting here!

I see that you are from Columbus, OH. I grew up in Lakewood, OH, on the immediate west side of Cleveland. I grew up in the competitive swimming world starting at the age of 7 through the end of high school, and every time we had a State Meet, it was held in Columbus, at Ohio State U. So because of that experience of being down at the State Meet so many times in my growing up years, every time I think of Columbus I get a little nervous and also get a little adrenaline rush.

Have a great Christmas Ghostpicker!

I thought I might bump this thread again for the pre-Christmas season of 2021 for anyone who might be interested.

Thanks for listening and the season's greetings to all!

Default PP&M

Sounds great! I still play it now and then but I'm no singer. Wonderful tune for two players.

Was 15 in 1965 and that was the first finger picking song I learned. Clever and Bach-like with the counterpoint melodies. PPM is well worth listening to always. So many cool finger patterns that work well today. Superb vocal harmonies and dynamics ... very advanced and polished compared to others in the folk music field back then. Very popular on the radio.

No auto-tune or effects. 3 voices, 2 guitars and a fine humble acoustic bass man in the shadows.

PPM also introduced and rocketed the careers of Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver while they were still anonymous to the mass public. They took good solid songs and made them lush and beautiful ... a win-win for all involved.

Along with early Simon & Garfunkel, the very best of folk. Their music holds up extremely well today. Glad I learned their picking patterns then. Not many did as it was rock n roll guitar soon after. Still picking a bunch of PP&M ... great stuff.
