Seems there IS hope for the next generation - and beyond!
This kid just totally nails it :

I watched this earlier this evening.
What an absolute joy!

Reminds me of a video I once saw of a 7 or 8 year old Julian Lage. He could barely reach a lot of the chords he was trying to play, but his musicality and just seemingly innate understanding of how the music came together was pretty much mind boggling. I've always been semi-fascinated with Julian Lage, because he's exactly one week younger than my older daughter - she's also dong very well being a physician, something she knew she wanted to be doing from about the age of five. This kid has got it too. There's a side of me that wishes I had anything like that gift. But, then again, the things I've been most gifted at in my life, that I had the most natural talent for, I burned out on relatively quickly and never fully appreciated. So maybe better for ME, for a lifetime of enjoyment, to pick something I don't have much natural talent for but love, and just enjoy doing it in my limited way every day, and just get a little bit better by a little bit better over a long time. I hope this kid still loves it when he's a grown man, as Julian Lage quite obviously does...

Wonderful style of playing, and at 11 years old there is a lot of life ahead of him.
Also, it makes me glad that, though I went all carbon fiber for my acoustic guitars, I am keeping my wood archtops. I have said it before and will continue to say it - no matter what else is out there, there is NOTHING like a fine Gibson archtop. Tony

Not a thread hijack, given the title. I watched Rick Beato's interview with Mateo Mancuson yesterday. At 27, he may be the best guitar player of his generation. I was awestruck.

I really don’t care for the use of the term ‘best’. Guitar playing is not a competition - but he is quite remarkably awesome

Grace Bowers, a 17 year old out of Nashville, is doing some pretty awesome stuff too.
I think, despite the regular predictions of the death of guitar music, the younger generation will be just fine.

All predictions of that nature are always going to be wrong, and they all start with tunnel vision. The predictions don't say as much about anything else as they do about the people making them. Guitar was always going to be fine, and I'm another Matteo Mancuso fan for years now.
