February heatwave?
Walked into town with Nanny Jane at midday today to see a film (Hurricane - more about that elsewhere)
So, its February right? So I put on a fleece and my lighter jacket, the walk would only be about thirty minutes. By the time we got to the theatre club,I was overheating! It reached all but 70 f in west London today and not much less down here! Remarkable weather for a month that is usually the worst time of year in the UK. It's changing after tomorrow but still remarkable. It's all about the perfidious jet stream of course. Anybody .. "over there" having an exceptionally mild winter?

It's been a relatively mild winter here in New England. While we tend to get a few big snowstorms every winter, I haven't had to fire up the snowblower yet.
We had a few warm days the week before last, I think, and temps got near 60°F, but it's cold and windy here today, and I'm on the coast here, but south of you in latitude... more in line with Portugal.

In this week last year we were enduring the Beast from the East and half the country was snowed in. It's amazing how different it can be exactly one year later.

Quite the opposite here.
January was the snowiest January on record for us and the fourth snowiest month ever. Had a legitimate blizzard (the real kind not just when people call a bad snowstorm a blizzard), just had an epic wind storm that slightly damaged my 2 year old roof. Expecting 7 inches of snow tomorrow. Anything but mild here.

We've had a long drought the past five years or so. Thankfully this has been a very wet winter in SoCal. Warm and sunny from time to time. We need the rain, but I'm a summer guy and looking to putting my board back in the ocean.

Same as to NorCal. Tons of snow at higher elevations. I'm itching for long bicycle rides, though, none of that hippy surfing stuff. (My best friend lives in Aptos and hits the water every chance he gets, so I'm allowed to disparage your types.)

Record February snowfall in my corner of Washington state. Highs are In the 20's (F) and single digit lows. In 6 months we'll have triple digits and forest fires from hell to breakfast.

It hasn’t been a terribly cold winter here in my part of central-east Canada, but we have had record snowfall.

Rather mild winter in the Great Plains state of Kansas. Less of the man and beast killing temps and whiteout blizzard conditions that that once were the norm. The western part of the state still has windswept blizzard conditions due to the lack of natural features to hold the blowing but the last 30 years has seen somewhat of a trend toward milder winters. The birds are returning just now which heralds spring. Prairie storms and tornado season will soon be here.

Enjoy that unseasonable weather while you can.
In the mid-west USA, it was mild until the middle of January. Well, at least where I reside, an hours drive north of Chicago. Then, Winter came in with a vengence. Snow, the Polar Vortex with severe cold, more snow. Sometimes, not great amounts. Just enough to create hazardous driving conditions. Oh, and the worst one, freezing rain. It is snowing as I type this. Sigh... |

February heatwave?
Yes the Isle of Wight is glorious at the moment , spring seems to be here . Even thought about taking the GSmini into our church orchard for a play yesterday . All change tomorrow though so we are told.

Lovely here in Wales. I should really mow the lawn, a job I can usually delay until the middle of March.
