This guitar is stunning to say the least. I am a particular fan of the amazing bear claw in that sitka and the grain in the fretboard. Amazingly beautiful work as always from the Hatcher studio.

Thanks Tom. Bear claw figured denim colored Sitka float wood, I don't expect we'll see that available again anytime soon! After I started working with this top set I went back to the supplier and got two more before he runs out.

OK, back to the Tree Josie. Here are a couple pictures of the sides and back coming together:

Thanks for viewing!

Looks like some kind of guitar cake, good enough to eat.

Default Red White and Blue update

I've been doing the final steps on my Red, White and Blue parlor. It has found a home so we're working out the final choices.

It came down to two candidates for the tuners:

It was a satin gold or antique gold as you can see above. The satin gold was a little more contemporary looking but the antique finish won the day because the color and even the texture was too good to pass up:

Today I set in the frets and the neck is joined:

I still have the tuner buttons to make which will be more of the tri-color Amboyna burl.

Thanks for viewing!

I can't get enough of that RWB Mark! It really turned out quite nicely! I'm a fan of the antique gold tuner, too. Really look sharp with the burl!

Thanks Nahum.R, with the contour of the sculpted headstock I needed to create a base for the tuner post washer. I got the idea years ago when I saw a headstock that Monteleone did on one of his archtops. His headstock face had a radius on it which looked to be the same as the fretboard radius (maybe 16”). He had the tuner face notched to accept the washer. I took note of that and put it use on my pillow topped headstock.

Thanks Tom, this one was an easy sell. I’ve got more of this back and side Sapele and the bearclaw blue Sitka floatwood. Just say’n!

Thanks Nemoman! I’m hoping to get the strings on this week to hear what this guitar has to say!

Thanks for the comments!

Got here via the "sinker Sitka" thread in the main forum. This is some amazing, spectacular work, Mark!

Thanks for checking in LakewoodM32Fan! I just got the strings on for the first time and am very happy with the tone I’m getting out of that top. I still have details to finish up like the burl custom tuner buttons and I’ll be installing a K&K pick-up with the Vintage jack. I hope to get a recording up before I send it off to its new home.

Default That beauty is

Beaming!
Such a beautiful guitar once again... nicely complemented by your photography Mark. The lighting and exposure on those last pics is just 👌🏻 perfect!
Did I already say that I love this burl and it really is a great combo with that georgeous sapele as well as the unusual and special sitka top. Mmmmmh !
