Whoa .. that last shot is amazing with the big strike hitting the ground as well as the action higher up in the clouds - stunning.

Nice shots. Makes me want to get a drone. What kind do you recommend? Is a license needed to operate one, for a hobbyist (non-professional use)?

Thanks. Lots of good options these days for not too much money. Here are the requirements for recreational flying:

https://www.faa.gov/uas/recreational_fliers/

There are a few decent drones that are easy to fly for less than $200, but they lack some features of the better drones. But maybe get one of those to see how often you'll use it and if you like it (kind of like guitar).

You can get a much better one though for $400 (on sales) to $1k. I have the Mavic Air, but the Mavic Air 2 can be had for less than $1k.

I'm a hobbyist photographer so I think they're very cool. I also started doing some videography with the drones the last couple of years:
